I bought one of these winches December 2008.Thought wow a 3 year warranty.
Try to use the warranty. Its your fault. Don't matter your fault.
Here is the warranty
Its cheaper to buy the part than to send it back and then me send it back to you.
Had it 1 year Christmas. Motor is not sealed shorts out
Bought a new motor because it is cheaper to buy than send it back for warranty
Put it on and it shorted out in Sept of 09
Buy a Warn or Ramsey. I have had a 8274 Warn since 1978, (that's 32 years) and have never had any problems and still use it regularly.

i got the tuff stuff 12500 winch a little wile ago set it up on my trailer and started using it to pull trucks up on too the trailer i have to say i love the winch if i had a mount on my truck id put it in my 04 dodge diesel i think it other guys just got a 1 in a 1000 bad motor then miss used it i have pulled a truck side ways its just as nice as my budys csi but a lot cheaper for 394 buck its an ok winch

In regards to the review above, you bought a winch that isn't labeled as waterproof and expect it to be? They make water proof winches for "mudbugs", this one is not. It comes with a waterproof cover, but this is not a winch for fording rivers or playing in the mud. I has an unsealed motor, because sealed motors are expensive.

This i a good quality winch for the price, don't expect it to perform like a $1000 winch.

I ordered the 12500 lb rated Tuff Stuff winch for my jeep. It arrived in just a couple days. We installed it without any problems and it looks and works great. On the drawing in the instruction page it appears that the ground cable goes to one of the bolts on the motor case. It actually goes
on the bottom of the case. Other than that it was easy to install. I like it very much. Thanks for your product.

Owned this 12500 Winch for two year now and had NO PROBLEMS with it. I've pulled several of my Buddies and Brother Four Wheeler out of Mud and an old Lady out of a Snow bank. Sits on the front of my XJ open to the Elements. Works GREAT EVERY TIME!!! In regards to other post, Just because you buy a Name Brand don't mean you won't get a bad one. 98 XJ
