5.0 out of 5 stars TV Ears Original Plus 10045 Wireless Headset with Voice Enhancement Technology

2.0 out of 5 stars Costs Too Much
Battery life is good- 8-10 hours. Sound is minimal at best with poor quality. Unit has TWO A/C plug adapters making it hard to find extra plugs. Instructions are poor ( third world ). Construction is cheap and for the price should be much nicer. Light weight. Too expensive .TV Ears Original Plus 10045 Wireless Headset with Voice Enhancement Technology (Black)

5.0 out of 5 stars TV Ears Original Plus 10045 Wireless Headset with Voice Enhancement Technology, September 2, 2010

I chose this model because it included "Voice Enhancement" and was recommended for use with Digital TVs.

A suitable cable is included for connection to the Digital TV's "Analog Audio Out Port". My TV's Analog Audio Out Port is "fixed" (independent from the volume control for the built in speakers) . This means that other person(s) can control the volume of the sound from the TV to their liking at the same time I am using TV Ears with its volume, tone and balance built in to adjust the sound to my needs... a perfect solution when people watching the same program have differing needs for sound adjustment. (Note: some digital TVs have a"variable" Analog Audio Out Port... in this case the volume control for the built in speakers would affect the volume of TV Ears... some TVs can switch between Fixed and Variable for the Analog Audio Out Port)

Set up was easy. Speech is indeed easier to understand. I find that wearing the headset is comfortable. The price is reasonable considering that it can deliver good quality sound to my ears and others can enjoy programs at the same time.

Since the TV's speakers can be muted while using TV Ears this would also be a way to watch late night TV while others in the household sleep.

4.0 out of 5 stars Newest TV Ears, March 20, 2011

I have used TV Ears for years. They don't have a very long life, must be replaced about every 3 - 4 years but this latest edition is fantastic. The older ones lost sound if you turned your head so that the front of the TV Ear was not directly facing the battery pack. This newest edition enables me to walk around, do my chores etc. without losing clarity of sound. I love them! Amazing technology advancement.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than original, February 27, 2011

I bought the original a few years ago and was reasonably satisfied with it. It is certainly easy to use. This latest version is definitely an improvement over the first release. It is less affected by florescent light, from the TV backlighting or from people walking between the transmitter and you. The voice enhancement works very well. On the negative side the flexible earpiece holders are flimsy, can break, and are not replaceable. The entire receiver needs to be replaced and is almost as expensive as the entire unit. Also, getting a good contact so that the receiver unit will charge properly can be a challenge as the unit ages. Inductive charging would probably work better.

4.0 out of 5 stars TV Ears - earpiece problem, October 23, 2010

The TV Ears perform as advertised and expected. My only problem is that the ear pieces are not adjustable for changing the angle of the ear bud. I have great difficulty in positioning these for clear comfortable hearing in both ears simultaneously. A swiveling ear piece would be a vast improvement.

The ear pieces fall apart after awhile. There are replacements available, but why buy something that doesn't last when you can get something else that lasts? Also, way more expensive than alternatives.

1.0 out of 5 stars TV Ears disappointment, January 14, 2011

This review is from: TV Ears Original Plus 10045 Wireless Headset with Voice Enhancement Technology (Black) (Electronics)
I purchased this item after reading the reviews that stated it worked well with digital televisions. My dad is very hard of hearing and I knew this would solve his issues. Unfortunately, this did not work with his television. There needs to be either an audio out port or a cable box- his tv has neither. It comes with an alternate microphone but all that did was create allot of static. We messed around trying to get it to work for close to an hour. When I called the help line I was told that we must not have pushed the plugs all the way into the port because there is never an static when using the microphone attachment- not true- of course the plugs were pushed in. No one at the help line seems to able to tell me what I need to purchase that will work with his Vizio television- I find it hard to believe there is no solution to this but am tired of messing around with it.
