TV Nation, which first aired in the summer of 1994, in its own small way, made history. Michael Moore, director of the shambling working-class documentaries Roger & Me and The Big One, persuaded NBC (and later Fox) to give him a run of hour-long shows that would enlist the talents of pop-culture correspondents from Karen Duffy to Steven Wright in the name of confrontational TV. Opening with a jump-cutting montage of loaded images, to the alternating synthesized plucked strings and heavy-metal guitar of tomandandy, and punctuated by nonsensical polls conducted by Widgery & Associates, TV Nation took Moore and his colleagues up (inside skyscrapers), down (into bomb shelters), and around the globe--even to the Ukraine--to confront the exploiters, polluters, and hypocrites threatening Moore's peaceable and generally liberal-minded view of the world.

Now, thanks to the miracle of videotape, you can see what you missed or want to see again and again--and even a little bit more. Volume 2 comprises the first show of the Fox run and the "Love Night" episode, as well as a segment, too controversial to be aired, about the Phelps family (revisited during an episode of The Awful Truth), renowned for picketing the funerals of people who've died of AIDS. Follow Janeane Garofalo and friends as they attempt a landing on an exclusive public beach in Connecticut. Cheer Crackers the Corporate Crime-Fighting Chicken, who drives an RV from security guard to security guard, pursuing justice. And visit the Aryan World Congress (treated to a multicultural cheerleading squad) and the Michigan Militia (taken to an amusement park) and show them some love. TV Nation will keep you laughing at the same time you're spreading the fingers in front of your reddened face to witness the apocalypse through Moore's jaundiced eyes. --Robert Burns Neveldine

5.0 out of 5 stars TV At Its Finest March 30, 2001
Format:VHS Tape
Michael Moore has the social genius of a modern day Mark Twain, and the courage of a lion. Had he been living in Nazi Germany in the 1930's, he would have been right there leading protest movements just under Hitler's nose, knowing full well the consequences. One can only admire his eagerness to take on the corrupt powers that be, using a lawyer stuffed into a big chicken suit (Crackers, the corporate crime fighting chicken featured in TV Nation). His attempt to get close to power by hugging all 50 state governors at an annual conference was as hilarious as his face to face challenge to Newt Gingrich to "get government off the backs of the American people" by having Cobb County, Ga. (Newt's home district) give back all of its massive federal government funding (Newt, of course, refused). TV Nation is a must see for anyone who thinks, and has any modest level of social consciousness.

5.0 out of 5 stars WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE FINEST TELEVISION SHOW EVER. March 3, 2000
By Chance
Format:VHS Tape
Superb.

Groundbreaking.

Sorely missed.

Though THE AWFUL TRUTH hasn't lived up to the promise that Moore set with this show, it is apparently being reworked to take advantage of some of the techniques used here, including on-the-street interviews. The best television show of the 90s, in either of its incarnations.

If you liked ROGER AND ME, THE BIG ONE, or even CANADIAN BACON, buy this now.

And let's release the rest of the series! Twenty hours total, and we need them all!

4.0 out of 5 stars Conservative Cronies Hate Moore June 13, 2002
By John
Format:VHS Tape
This was a funny and informative series. The reviewers who gave it a negative are nothing less than Right Wing Seperatists who shout "Red Commie!" everytime corporate greed and the conservative right is exposed for what they truly are: Anti-American.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wildly funny, smart and poignant. May 20, 1999
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
I really enjoyed all of the TV Nation episodes when they aired on (surprise) NBC and Fox. But, like most smart comedies that involve thinking, the networks thought people did not get it. Thus, they got lousy time slots and died. I am glad there are these videos around so we can watch them again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb tongue in cheek look at society September 23, 1999

GREAT video. Too smart and sophisticated for the average TV enthusiast. Michael Moore is one of those guys whom you would love to have a beer with and just talk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Put the entire show on DVD!!! December 19, 2006
Format:DVD
TV Nation was a terrifiic show. It built on the stuff that Moore did in Roger and Me. It was very funny and made a great point. The couple of shows on VHS does not do justice to the entire run of the show. Put this out on DVD!

5.0 out of 5 stars More enjoyable then a bucket full of monkeys! February 7, 1999
Format:VHS Tape
If you've never seen a T.V. Nation epsiode on Televison, your missing out. Michael Moore did something few others have done, show a realistic view on America in an extremely entertaining manner. T.V. Nation and Michael Moore are simply hillarious (yet informative).
