Biography

We Are Scientists shocked themselves and impressed many others with their 2005 debut With Love & Squalor, which sold over 150,000 copies in the UK on the strength of dancefloor standbys Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt; It's A Hit; and The Great Escape, as well as nine other songs that, to all appearances, people also liked. Twenty months of near-constant touring culminated in a sold out ... Read more in Amazon's We Are Scientists Store

Editorial Reviews

With a new record label in tow, Toronto-based Dine Alone Records, Keith Murray and Chris Cain are giving fans the kind of songs that put them on the global map and that we've been missing from our playlists. In late 2012, they entered the studio in New York with producer Chris Coady (Beach House, Gang Gang Dance, Blonde Redhead) to record sessions for their fourth record. Burrows relocated to the city from England while he worked with Murray and Cain to write and record tracks for the album Tv en Francais!

This CD is one of their best so far, can't recommend it enough to anyone who likes any of their earlier work.

Best well-rounded album I've bought in a year.

I bought this album a few weeks before seeing WAS in concert and I just left it on repeat on my iPod the whole time. It was fresh but also familiar from minute one and there isn't a single letdown to be found. It's hard to pick a favorite song since there's something (or many things) redeemable for all. Some might argue that they haven't really done anything new with TV en Francais but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Fans who started listening to WAS's With Love and Squalor and followed it up with Brain Thrust Mastery will find much to like here. As a side note, WAS are not to be missed live. There is no one who engages with the audience quite like they do and it's clear they're having a great time up there. Best well-rounded album I've bought in a year.

I am a long time fan of We Are Scientists, so I bought this album from Amazon because of the mobile MP3 app and it's been amazing.

If you like the raw, raucous guitar-driven sound of 'With Love and Squalor' and you like the sonic adventurousness of 'Brain Thrust Mastery' and you like the compact, sturdy songs of 'Barbara', then you should find much to love on 'T.V. en Francais' which I think is possibly their best all-around album. It's also the most consistent. It's got a little of everything from all of these albums. Plus, some blistering guitar from Keith Murray...some of his best. And if you are new to the band, this is a great place to jump on!! A lot of variety and a great little song called 'Courage' which is definitely a step in an interesting direction for the band.
