5.0 out of 5 stars If you've got to feed your family then buy this receiver....
J+R let me have this receiver for cool $300 last Christmas Eve. It was the most wonderful Christmas my self-centered self ever had. 30 lbs is a lot of receiver. The manual goes hand-n-hand with their more expensive 702, a THX certified reciever, but you pay for that certification. This receiver will play the Matrix as loud as you should ever need to hear it. With a...

1.0 out of 5 stars A Piece of Lemon...
Buyer beware. I bought this unit from Crutchfield, and about 4 months later the sound just stopped...that's right, no sound! Sent it in for warranty repair, and almost 2 months later, they claimed to have figured out the problem and returned it to me. It still didn't work properly. I sent it back in the second time, and 1 month later, they returned it to me after they...

This review is from: ONKYO TX-SR602B Stereo and Home Theater Surround Sound Receiver (Electronics)

The manual goes hand-n-hand with their more expensive 702, a THX certified reciever, but you pay for that certification. This receiver will play the Matrix as loud as you should ever need to hear it. With a relatively small room and JBL Northridge speakers, also relatively cheap, the quality of the sound will be nothing to be ashamed of. You might even be amazed. You Must set your speakers according to the plan....75db all around, then tweak the surrounds 1db at a time if you think they're too loud/soft. Do this and you will have surround sound like nobody's business.

Buyer beware. I bought this unit from Crutchfield, and about 4 months later the sound just stopped...that's right, no sound! Sent it in for warranty repair, and almost 2 months later, they claimed to have figured out the problem and returned it to me. It still didn't work properly. I sent it back in the second time, and 1 month later, they returned it to me after they said to have replaced the DSP PCB. It still didn't work. By now, the unit has been at the shop longer than I've actually used it. Onkyo refuses to send me a new unit, and instead wants me to send it in the 3rd time. Gimme a break. I spoke to Crutchfield and they agreed to give me a store credit for the unit. I'll definitely never buy another Onkyo product. Between the Fedex charges back and forth, the time on the phone spent by their technicians and customer service reps, etc., it would have been cheaper (and better customer service) for Onkyo to just replace the unit. Penny smart, pound foolish. They've lost a customer for life...someone who's in the process of setting up a new home theater system.
