I was given this small creature by a friend who had heard that I was moving into a bad neighborhood. "I know with crime rates in the city, you're going to be looking for home security options. I think I have just the thing!"
At first, I was skeptical. The little guy's just about four inches from tail to snout, after all. However, I must admit that so far, I have had no problems. Nobody messes with a guy who has a hippo, unless they're just looking for trouble. Most burglars just stay away, and those foolish enough to try it out? Well, one guy last week jimmied the front door open and got the trampling of his life. Mind you, it took Happy about three days to fully trample him, due to his size, but my family was unharmed and nothing was taken. He's also great with the children, and being only alive in our imaginations, it takes very little to keep him well-fed. |
