5.0 out of 5 stars She rocks!!, October 18, 2000

Jennie has been blessed with one of the best voices I've ever heard. She stands alone and that makes her incredible. Sick of stuff that all sounds the same? Try Jennie, she's got her own sound. Blues, funk, rock, contemporary, any of the above. She just jams. You can relate to her lyrics, not to mention dance and sing to them. The music was done by first class musicians with an excellent new style that shows they are very talented. You won't be disappointed. She's opened for Lilith Fair, Joe Cocker, Yes, Paula Cole, Big Head Todd and the Monster among others. She's on the up and up. If you can wear a cd out, I'm working on it. I listen to this cd everyday. It never gets old.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW !, June 10, 2000

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, here comes Ta Da. Jennie outshines herself on her second release. Two songs from the CD, "Away" and "Forward in Time" are fimilar songs to her fans, having played them live prior to this release. What I find unique about those songs are how subtle changes were made on the CD and it was like finding a forgotten Christmas gift while taking down the tree. What fun ! Check out her gutsy performance on "Love Don't Come Around" as well as "Somebody's Daughter". In fact the entire CD is full of great vocals, songwriting, a great band and guest musicians. Jennie, you rock ! They do say that it's impossible to wear out CD's...right ?

5.0 out of 5 stars A revolution has begun!, December 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Ta Da (Audio CD)
There are so few bands which grab you, get under your skin, speak to your heart and mind, and make you want to play their songs over and over. Enter the Jennie DeVoe Band! Ta Da is an amazing disc with songs that possess their own unique personalities. Feeling uneasy about your addictions? Try "Away." Have a yen for an edgy ride to the darker side of your psyche? Check out "Faster Johnny." Musing about the old flame who couldn't make up his or her mind? "How I Feel" is what you need. Some good old fashioned blues? "Love Don't Come Around" is there for you. Whatever your taste, Ta Da has the song for you. This is "grown up" music that actually appeals to all ages, go figure. For the first time in a long, long time, you can enjoy a CD which will speak to you, gentle listener, rather than to some music mogul who wishes to define your tastes for you. Take back the music! Let the revolution continue . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, genre-busting music, November 5, 2004
By
This review is from: Ta Da (Audio CD)

If you are annoyed my mass-produced studio "artists," you probably want great music and you don't care whether it fits neatly into any particular category. Jennie DeVoe is what you're looking for.

Jennie DeVoe writes and sings rock for grown-ups. It's probably best classified as Adult Alternative. It's mostly up-tempo, and it rocks.

DeVoe displays a variety of influences, including rock, blues, funk, and gospel. The result is wonderful, so who cares what we call it.

DeVoe also has a great set of pipes and can really belt out a tune, as you'd expect from a gospel-influenced singer.

In a world of studio-produced "talent" and lip-synching dance acts, DeVoe is the real thing. I don't know how you ended up on this page, but since you did, you already suspect that this is music you might like.

Now you know. Buy this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jennie and the band do it again!!!, November 6, 2001
By
This review is from: Ta Da (Audio CD)
I seriously doubted that Jennie could top her debut effort, but she proved me wrong! "Ta Da" picks up where "Does She Walk on Water" ended. It is a thought provoking and meaningful work, in a world of gimmicks and catch phrases. It is unfortunate that the true storytellers are being pushed to the side in favor of slick packaging and catchy pop tunes. Jennie makes me shake the grind of the day and just be human, if only for one hour. Bravo, girl! And keep carrying the banner for true songwriting and storytelling!
