5.0 out of 5 stars John McBain's Last Trip
Of all the albums that had ever succeeded at recreating the drug experience on vinyl, ("The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," "The Parable of Arable Land" and "Space Ritual" come immediately to mind) nothing comes close to the power and tripping intensity of "25...TAB." 3.0 out of 5 stars Maybe The Weidest Record Ever Made
Monster Magnet is a great heavy psych band, but this is certainly not their best effort, yet still somewhat interesting. If you are a fan you must hear this at least once. I heard it once and sold my copy back to the used CD store. That's not a statement that this is totally awful either. Once is enough; maybe this was a piece of art created as a disposable listen ? I...

5.0 out of 5 stars John McBain's Last Trip, July 11, 1998

Of all the albums that had ever succeeded at recreating the drug experience on vinyl, ("The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," "The Parable of Arable Land" and "Space Ritual" come immediately to mind) nothing comes close to the power and tripping intensity of "25...TAB." "TAB," the 32 minute title track, features the sonic equilvalent of a sheet of blotter acid layered over a hypnotically rhythmic bass line. But my favorite track here is "Longhair," which is guitarist John McBain's crack baby all the way. Although this record was recorded before the "Spine of God" album, it is the last recording to be released by Monster Magnet that had most of the original lineup, (early vocalist Tim Cronin not withstanding).

"25...Tab" is the ultimate trip!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Reccomended for Airplay., June 28, 2001

Let me first let you know of the common mistake on people's take of TAB. People think they are buying an album from a rock band. If that is what you are looking for, buy Powertrip. Tab is a glimpse into the soul of Monster Magent that few bands have been brave enough (or had enough freedom from their record companies) to do. The opening track is a 32 minute ride through the darkest part of space in '69 GTO Judge.... the only concern is, the beast's Manifold is cracked and it is leaking toxic fumes into you breathing chamber! It is not a song, it is a psychedellic journey throuh the band's "altered" state. This album is 60's fuzz driven through a blown Leslie speaker the size of God. Creative... free.. and as psychedellic as that legendary Window Payne. This is an album you relax, get high, and float off to planets yet undiscovered by science. The way Magnet intended. Many won't get it. The one's who do will be saved.

5.0 out of 5 stars for fans only, February 28, 2003

if you appreciate music that is way out there or your a huge fan of magnet then this is for you, otherwise, stay away. the fist song is thirty plus minutes long. the amazing thing is how the band played the same riff for so long or did they loop it? it really is a good groove but it gets repititive. the second song is fifteen minutes long and can make you weary just listening.
the next two songs are really good and not too long at all. there is also a hidden track which is another version of the song tractor. i love this band. amazing stuff. very black sabbath meets hawkwind. psychadelic rock with a heavy edge. good stuff if you have the ear for something different.

5.0 out of 5 stars IN THE SAME LEAGUE AS ALL OTHER MONSTER MAGNET ALBUMS, February 23, 2003

This album is not an experimental ep to drift away from the average Monster Magnet sound, alot of people think so, but I disagree. I find the songs here to be just as rocking and melodic as any other Monster Magnet material on any of their other albums. The only throw here is the first track weighing in at a little over thirty minutes long, which I love by the way, more bands should write epics like that! Anyway, if you're a fan of Monster Magnet, this ep is a must, don't let it pass you by!

The cd is everything you have come to expect from Monster Magnet and more. Have a full tank of nitrous and plenty of Black Balloons handy when you stick it in, and then let the mothership take you away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Monster Magnet - '25...Tab' (Caroline), September 16, 2004
This review is from: Tab (Audio CD)
Holy mother of all creatures great and small! This is actually supposed to be an EP?Boy,you sure had me fooled, with '25...Tab' clocking in at over 45 minutes,Monster Magnet mainman Dave Wyndorf and crew go WAY above and beyond the call of duty to put this outstanding release together. When I first got this disc,I remember playing it about like every other night.Simply could not get nearly enough of the 32-minute title track,'25...Tab'.And to think that some thought psychedelia was dead.NO WAY!!This'd be great to play at a late nighter's bash. The other two tracks, the 12-minute trippin' "Longhair" and "Lord 13" will provide the listener(s) with much aural pleasure as well.Nonetheless,a priceless psychedelic metallic(with much mayhem to offer)disc to own and treasure. If you can't hear Magnet's influences of Sabbath,Stooges,MC 5 and Hawkwind, you need to get your ears cleaned.Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars One to decide for yourself..., July 25, 2002
This review is from: Tab (Audio CD)
25...TAB is a strange, strange album from the guys of Monster Magnet. The absolutely over-the-top-length of the 32-minute-plus "25" is mind-bending with it's trippy, atmospheric jamming feel, and the 12-minute "Tab" seems just as strange. But "Longhair" and Lord 13" are absolutely fuzz rockers...and there's a hidden track, an early version of "Tractor" recorded here...with a more 60s-70s feel to it (it would later be re-recorded for POWERTRIP). Overall, 25...TAB is recommended for only hardcore fans, unless you really think you can take this truly druggy-acid trip, mind-bending rock.
