Amazing vurtuosity and interplay, August 24, 1999

Ustad Alla Rakha & Zakir Hussain play a tabla duet on this CD It features some incredible playing and interplay during this live performance recorded in India. The performance lasting over a hour begins slowly with each player taking their turn at the 16 beat tala called tintal while the other encourages with verbal comments. Eventually they begin to play together playing faster and faster. You will hear them vocalizing the phrases and play them with equal perfection as is the tradition of teaching and learning to play tablas. This should be a must have for all percussion players and music lovers

Excellent for tabla listeners. Has some rare moments of Zakir and Alla Rakha. A must have for every tabla fan.
