I found both the paper and photo quality of this book to be very poor. It was not up to the standard of all the other books I have purchased from Amazon.

through table decor land. Rooney makes it all look so easy. I had never thought of using my collections of things before -- my frogs, candlestocks, or even my snowmen--to make dazzing centerpieces. I've discovered how to save a fortune on flowers and make my tables look much more fascinating. Thoroughly recommend this book. Great pics, great background info, anyone who entertains should own it!

Sorry, but I have to agree with Valerie. The photography in this book was substandard to most in this genre. Those of us who purchase this type of book are looking for clear, sharp, detailed photography that tells the story with or without text. Some photos hit the mark, but many looked like they were taken with a Kodak disposable. The room settings were largely unimaginative (much of the decor looked as if it hailed from the early 1990s), and the floral designs were very basic and uninspired. Further, there were several glaring typos throughout. And not to be overly picky, but the same rule of thumb for one's home displays should apply in photography: all candles should either be lit or appear to have been lit at some point in time rather than "just for show." And honestly, if I saw the expression "voila!" just one more time...! On the plus side, the number of photos outweighed the text. Alas...Had there only been better ones!

I have ordered this book for several of my nieces and nephews -- it is packed with information and great tips about taking what you have and using it imaginatively. I especially loved the baby shower using the Hummel figures. So many people just keep them on a shelf covered with dust. Here, they are used with panache! Lovely ideas for weddings, dinner parties, holidays -- and some fun tips and great history . I never knew that the Queen of France may have been the inspiration for champagne glasses! Now I won't have to order flowers each time we entertain

I got this for my friend who is a great entertainer and loves to host parties. She pays particular attention to detail. This book will give her some great ideas.
