Both Inspiration and Practical "How-to", November 21, 2011
This review is from: Table Life - Savoring the Hospitality of Jesus in Your Home (Hardcover)
This is a pretty book - one that you could easily give as a gift, or display on your coffee table. But don't be fooled: underneath the beautiful cover is an approachable, earthy guide to every-day, on-budget hospitality that will get plenty of practical use in the kitchen and dining room, as a companion to your cookbooks. Reading Thompson's easy style is more like sharing coffee conversation with a friend, as she weaves together stories, examples, recipes and ideas that encourage us to reconsider how we define and practice hospitality. This book is an invitation to toss aside our notions that entertaining guests in our home must look like something from Food TV or Better Homes & Gardens. Instead, we are challenged to consider what is at the heart of hospitality - the desire to connect with other people on an authentically deeper level - and to decide how best to incorporate its practice into our lifestyle.
