Great little table!,

This review is from: Table-Mate II Woodgrain Folding Table (Sports)
I bought the Table Mate to use with my notebook computer. It's so much better than the TV tray I was using. Yes, it does do everything you see in the ads and on TV. It looks great and the durable woodgrain color matches the big computer desk and other furniture in my home office. When my computer tech stopped by, he was so impressed that he plans to buy one, too. Some friends are also interested. They thought the tables looked good on TV, but didn't know how great the TableMate would actually be until seeing one in person. Now I can take my notebook computer anywhere in the house and adjust the table height for the chair or sofa I'm sitting on. I can pull the table close to me for typing on the keyboard because its legs slide under even upholstered furniture, something I couldn't do with the TV tray. The legs sliding under a bed bring the table into just the right position for eating or anything else a flat surface is needed for. The table is so versatile that I might purchase more TableMates to replace the TV trays.

Convenient To Use But The Top Warps Easily,

This review is from: Table-Mate II Woodgrain Folding Table (Sports)
The top is all plastic and even though it's rated to hold up to 50 lbs., you'll notice it sags in the middle with as little as a 7 pound laptop on it (that's what I use it for).I'd give it 5 stars for convenience if it weren't for this and the fact that the TableMate website has NO contact telephone number - and does NOT respond to e-mails inquiring about a replacement top - it's supposed to have a lifetime warranty against breakage, bending, etc. Mine has developed a permanent warp to the point that my mouse won't even lay flat. A steel shim molded into the top's perimeter lip would have made for a much more rigid design.

Surprisingly useful and sturdy,

I didn't expect much from this little table but am pleasantly surprised. It could use some improvements, however. Although it isn't great looking, the color does blend with the cherry wood in my family room and when it's under the couch it's not too obvious. It is just plastic embossed to look like wood grain and painted metal, but it's not bad considering the price. I use it as a TV table and to hold my remotes, etc., when I'm alone. It's enough higher than my coffee table that it offers some useful extra space, then when guests are due I put all the excess it normally holds into a pretty basket and fold it to slide under the couch so the room is almost instantly tidy :)For the price perhaps it would be unrealistic to expect a better folding and setup arrangement, but it is a little awkward for me to push the spring-loaded buttons on the legs in far enough for the legs to be extended upward for setup (or remember which hole is my preferred height, and keep the button from incorrectly lodging itself in the wrong hole or with the leg facing the wrong direction). Likewise, the tray support fits pretty tightly on my unit so I have a little trouble with my arthritic thumbs clicking it into place and removing it from the channel later for storage. If you intend to leave it up all the time, of course, that is only an issue once, but my whole reason for getting it was that I could store it fairly easily when not in use. I can't complain too much because it's quite sturdy, lightweight, I find it useful and it serves the purpose of being collapsible to store under the couch. I'd buy it again, but wish it were a bit easier to setup and take down.
