It really works!,

My two teenage sons are growing up to be wonderful men, but our dinner conversations have degraded over the last several years. Take a small amount of teenage angst mixed with schoolyard humor, testosterone and a couple of irreverent senses of humor and you can paint the picture of what the conversations were like. Half the time they had me laughing so much I couldn't eat, and the rest of the time I was holding my head in my hands in frustration. I didn't want to be overbearing, and I do enjoy their senses of humor, but it was getting where we never had a decent conversation and I was desperate to find something to change the situation.
I bought this product as an experiment and was amazed at the results. Even the most reluctant of the two teenagers came around and was engaged in the conversation. We talked about things that would never have come up in our normal conversations and I learned some things about my kids I never knew.

I bought this after a friend of mine showed them to me, but I was taken aback by the price at first. It's just a pile of cards printed with conversation-starting questions. But, I have to say, the fact that they are preprinted and stacked in a clear cube really works. We keep them at the dinner table, and if conversation lags (or gets too heated) we grab a card and get opinions from everyone. Our kids are 4 and 8 right now, and they're excited when their time comes to give an opinion. When we have guests over, they'll almost always pick up the box and start reading cards, so it works in that context, too.
Now that we have one set, I'd appreciate if we could buy just the cards and re-use the acrylic cube rather than paying for it each time, but as it is, this is great fun and thought-provoking.

We received this for Christmas last year and it has been a fantastic tool for getting to know our kids better. Our kids (10, 8, & 4) ask to play it at each dinner time and it has helped our entire family learn more about each other; has given our kids a self-esteem boost to have their ideas and opinions listened to; and it's been lots of fun. It's perfect for our age of kids--even the four year old answers the questions. A great gift! (I would give it 5 stars for educational...it wouldn't let me edit this portion when I saw my error).

My wife and I have used this with our boys, ages 9 and 5, at the dinner table. The questions are great and I've really learned some things about my boys that I didn't know. The oldest one is really enthusiastic about it and begs for us to play.

I was disappointed in the topics of the cards. I hesitate to write this review because apparently many people loved this product. I guess I was hoping for topics that we already didn't discuss and that would open dialog more. It is great that you can randomly just pick a card and talk about it though so it isn't a total waste. I think if it were a little cheaper I would be happier as I would feel that it was worth the price even if we only used it occasionally.
A great way to use this is in the car on long drives. The kids can pick the card and read the topic. Far better than video games, in my opinion. But we don't like to use it just sitting a the table at dinner.

My kids reach for these cards every night. They are 6 & 8. All the questions are at a level they can answer. We recently brought these to an extended family weekend. The age range was 5-78, it was fascinating to hear the varied answers from different generations. Everyone wanted to know where we got these from. They come in a very thick, study clear cube. It's been dropped many times without a crack. This would make a great gift!

We love this product. It stimulates conversation amongst all of us and causes us to take a moment and think about ourselves and our responses. My kids enjoy learning things about mom and dad that they didn't already know and of course we love learning more about our kids. We use it in addition to the usual "how was your day" routine at dinner time because sometimes, no one really wants to talk about their day.
I recommend this product to anyone; to those trying to establish a family dinner or even for those people whom already have the family dinner thing down. It is a great product and we will be ordering more in the future.

My children are 5, 8 and 11. We have been using these cards for about a week. I have to skip over some before I can find one that all of my children will understand and be able to contribute their opinions too that is why I say this is for older children (I think 10 and up would understand all of the cards) It is something that we can use for years though and I am sure their answers will change as they grow.
I feel the item is overpriced. If the cards were priced at $10-15 I would buy other sets. I paid $27 on here right before the holiday season.

I purchased this for my neice after I received the "adult" version and thought she would enjoy the game with her family. While the questions in the adult game are provocative (not in a negative way), the ones in this "family" version are rather lame, kind of boring!

The game is a good for stimulating conversation on different topics with your kids. It's geared more for kids over the age of 10. We pick a card every night after dinner and discuss it.
