5.0 out of 5 stars Missing a very valuable customer base
As an ESL teacher sometimes faced with students who think they have nothing to say, I find these cards invaluable. I don't have to think of questions!

I was excited to order this item after reading all of the positive reviews online, but became disappointed after having it for a couple days. The cards are thick, which means they put fewer in the heavy duty acrylic box. Many of the questions are not that thought provoking and some require only a yes or no answer which really doesn't spark the great conversation that you hope for. (ie--"Which song gets stuck in your head" or "Do you enjoy doing things by yourself" doesn't really create much conversation). Our family includes 3 very talkative teenage daughters and we often answer 3 or 4 cards at one meal, which means we will plow through the whole box very quickly. We own the game "Life Stories" which I feel is a better option. You could use the cards from this game at mealtime (without using the board) and create the conversation you want.

This is my second purchase of the Table Topic cards - I also have the family edition. For a family with young teenagers, it is a great conversation starter. We play at dinner, just leaving the cute little box on the table and selecting a different card each day. We played over the holidays with the grandparents and even that was really fun. I highly recommend as a way to keep the communication open between the generations. The questions are appropriate and can generate some real sharing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stay at the table longer!, January 16, 2007

I have two teenage boys, one of them in those teenage years when you don't talk much. We have had some interesting dinner conversations because of these cards. We can all be finished eating and cleaning up but one of my sons will still be sitting at the table flipping through the cards and reading questions. Maybe it's the clean up he's avoiding!! Whatever the case, we have had some conversations that wouldn't normally be in our range of topics.

A friend suggested Table Topics Teen Edition for my daughter. She is 13 years old and can go the entire time at the dinner table without saying a word. And I have told her dinner time is our time for each of us to share our day with each other. So I bought Table topics to give her ideas on different subjects. They are fun and interesting questions that can help start a conversation. We just started using them so I hope she will have fun with it.
Buying through Amazon was great. The service was fast!

We purchased the family edition and have been using to stimulate conversation at dinner time. The questions are simple and good for all ages, and they work! The game has added a lot of spice to our dinner time, and keeps the older kids there a little longer.

Acrylic box is well made. Questions are on heavy card stock. Definitely interested in trying the other question packs available and think this would make a nice gift.

My family has enjoyed this product so much. Even when we go out to dinner, we pull cards to take with us for conversation starters. I've learned more about my children and their thought processes, and they've certainly learned more about my views and opinions. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Conversation Going, March 8, 2007
This review is from: TableTopics Teen (Toy)
This is the best game I could have bought for my teen kids. I have a 15 yr old boy and 12 yr old girl. They both enjoy the conversations from the questions and I am amazed at the answers they give me. I would recommend them for any teenager if you want to know more about them their friends and things they are interested in. Myrtha

Absolutely LOVE this product! I received my box of questions, good for teens, and used it the same night over dinner with my two teen daughters. Also had a friend and her two teen daughters over for dinner and we all sat answering questions for 1 1/2 hours, eager to read the next question. It was such a great way for the four teens to open up over dinner. They all freely shared and expressed their thoughts and opinions without feeling interrogated. It was a wonderful and enlightening evening learning about our girls and what makes them tick.

We gave this gift to our daughter 3 years ago and are still having fun with it. They are great in the car or when she does on school trips too. Great way to learn and listen about each other.
