Bad Desgin,

You wouldn't think that you could mess up a butter dish, but this one has a few issues. The first being that the dish is too small to store the shorter, stumpier cubes of butter without getting it all over on the inside of the lid. The second is that the lid is very hard to grip well enough to pick up and you end up mashing it into the stick of butter while trying to get it off.
Although, if these things don't bother you, it is a nice looking dish and it keeps the butter.

Non-functional butter dish?,

Amazing that a person or company that does something for a living can do it to the point of near uselessness.
But that's apparently the case here, where a butter dish designer, BY training and VOCATION, actually designed a butter dish which holds a stick of butter, yet makes it nigh impossible to use it more than once between washings. The minute any butter gets on the outside of the glass top, and it will, you can not lift the top off the dish without getting yet more butter on both your hands and smearing it around the now slippery non-grip top. Talk about a greased pig? A greased pig has NOTHING on this dish top. The mfr should be embarrassed since they do this for a supposed living, but actually, I'm more embarrassed for having bought one of these moronic dishes.

This butter butter dish looks just as it's pictured, but the lid is annoying. It is hard to grip good to open and close. Butter ends up getting smeared on it, distorting a bit of the appeal. It works, but I'm wishing that I would have shopped around a bit more.

This a perfectly classic butter dish. It does a little bit to cleanse my childhood memories of an brown Tupperware abomination, the horrific realities of growing up in the 1970's. Dropping and breaking my glass butter dishes is a downside, I admit. This is my 3rd one. If I had more cabinet space I'd buy my "next one" now!

I love this butter dish. Clean looking, no crannies for the butter to get stuck in and it is clear so I can always see how much butter is in the dish.

Bad Design,

Purchased this with the intent of replacing existing dish. After using it a few times we found out what others have stated. Hard to believe they would sell a product without testing it. The lid is too small for a stick of butter. Both ends of it touch the butter when newly put into dish. My wife cut the stick in two so one will better fit. Even then it gets on the inside and outside of lid making it extremely hard to handle and very messy. I have since measured the inside of the lid so I will know what measurments to use in buying a new one. It is unbelievable the poor design that goes into products now days. That is until you try to use them!!

We bought this to replace a glass butter dish that came with our GE fridge that had been broken and was no longer available. It's heavy glass and good quality; good value for the price I think. It's made for the long butter sticks, however, not the short fat ones.
