5.0 out of 5 stars Move over, Zagat!, March 23, 2010
This review is from: The Tablehopper's Guide to Dining and Drinking in San Francisco: Find the Right Spot for Every Occasion (Paperback)
If you live in San Francisco the Tablehopper newsletter is your weekly fix for all that's happening in the local restaurant scene. Now the Tablehopper herself, Marcia Gagliardi, has written an occasion based guide book that will help you find the best place to drink or dine. Going out with the parents? Planning a birthday party? Dining with a picky eater? Gagliardi has got you covered. I've only had this book for a few weeks and it's come in very handy already. It's not comprehensive, but it lists hand picked favorites from someone I trust.

By Randy Boek (Seattle, Wa. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Tablehopper's Guide to Dining and Drinking in San Francisco: Find the Right Spot for Every Occasion (Paperback)
This is not your normal city dining guide. Marcia knows what there is to know about food, drink and related fun in San Francisco world of restaurants. The Tablehopper's Guide will guide you to not only the food and drink you are looking for but also the place to go for the experience you want. Marcia is a character, smart, irreverent, edgy, this book is a fun read with a lot of personality and enough detail to plan the perfect night out in the city by the bay. If you are a business traveler to San Francisco, Marcia's recommendations can make sure you will enjoy one of the greatest aspects of a trip to San Francisco - incredible options for eating and drinking.

5.0 out of 5 stars the only san francisco book I need, April 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Tablehopper's Guide to Dining and Drinking in San Francisco: Find the Right Spot for Every Occasion (Paperback)
I have purchased 23 books for touring San Francisco. I live about 45 minutes away and I love to go there as much as I can. Marcia's book is the BEST book for me! It is all about the drinking and eating, not about sites and tourist traps. I would recommend that a tourist forgo the sites and dive straight into the heart of the city: it's unique dining establishments both swanky and funky/eclectic and the taverns, pubs and posh hotel bars. That is what SF is all about. I am giving this book as Christmas gifts to everyone I love -- if I can wait that long. Probably not.
