Book Description

September 26, 2008
The world turns upside down for a young girl when her father begins a fatal battle with the merciless affliction cancer. Before his illness finishes it’s devastating rampage through her adolescence, she is confronted by a new demon. She falls victim, by the hands of a trusted adult, to sexual abuse. The devastation of these events causes her to question God’s roll in her life, and whether He ever loved her at all. The Tablet of My Heart is a collection of Poetry from the journal of that young girl. It is narrated by the author of the journal herself, who paints a portrait of words illustrating her emotional journey from hopelessness to healing. It is dedicated to victims of abuse; to bring to them the realization of hope that there is a light at the end of the silence. Elizabeth Walker is passionately dedicated to aiding in the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect. The abuse that she endured as a child fuels her ambition. 4.0 out of 5 stars Lover of books of faith, October 14, 2008
This review is from: The Tablet of My Heart (Paperback)
This was a surprisingly honest and wonderfully unique child's prospective of abuse, it's effects and how she overcame it. Wonderful reading for anyone who has lost their faith, felt unloved, lost their way or just want to be inspired. God is greatly working in this girl's(woman's)life and she is a very good writer. I would encourage anyone to purchase this book for themself or as a gift. Hope to hear more from her.

4.0 out of 5 stars Abuse Through a Child's Eye, May 26, 2009
By
Shelly Burns (Conroe, TX, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Tablet of My Heart (Paperback)
Very difficult subject matter to read, but unique book format. The author tells her own childhood story of sexual molestation through narration and poetry. The poems are actually from her childhood journal and are sometimes difficult to read knowing that they come from a child. This is a book I'd recommend to parents and/or victims of abuse. It shows how a child, whose mother refuses to pay attention, can survive abuse, and come out of it, even through thoughts and attempts of suicide. This is an quick read, but it will tug at your emotions.

5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible story of healing told through breathtaking poetry, December 16, 2008
This review is from: The Tablet of My Heart (Paperback)
This book is an extremely powerful and intimate look at the struggles of a young girl coming to grips with the reality of abuse and neglect. Her narrative of the events in her young life provides the framework for her unique coping method, creating poetry. The beautiful yet bittersweet poetry that Elizabeth began writing as a child is a testament to her talent and strength. Elizabeth's ability to rebuild her life after the devastating chain of events that started at the tender age of six is incredible. Her capacity for forgiveness of those who wronged her is an inspiration. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to hear an incredible story of healing and lovers of breathtaking poetry alike.
