I'm glad I didn't "buy" this book and went to the Library
first. I was looking for more "whimsical" ideas and the
ones offered in this book seem to be the basic, traditional
ones.

I love this book. The arrangements are not merely interesting, but beautiful, and encompass every type of table adornment. It made me become aware of how to put table decorations together. Now, as a hostess gift, instead of bringing only a cooked dish, I bring the centerpiece as well.

i love to set tables. my mother has done this for 40 years and i have never seen such wonderful ideas with flowers and china. i would give this a 6 star rating if they had one. i will my many of these for my friends for christmas

This book has many wonderful table setting ideas that are inspirational, creative and beautiful and it teaches you how to create unique table settings and create Themes of your own. I have been entertaining more and guests comment on what a treat it is to come over for dinner.

Like all her books Barbara Milo Ohrbach displays class.loved the book and I couldn't wait to the try out her ideas on our next unsuspecting dinner guests.She is an inspiration to all collectors and lovers of fine things and good taste.If you loved this book you must read the rest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The author uses many of her antiques to decorate the table which is nice if you own any yourself. Many ideas were very "english", maybe a little too elegant, not the kind of book for someone looking for different ideas using everyday items or at least items you can find in everyday stores. Nice coffee table book but not easy to recreate her tabletops.

This book has no useful information in it. The pictures are pretty, but I don't spend good money on a book just to look at the pictures. Even the ideas aren't all that creative. If I had cupboards full of antiques and drawers full of beautiful linens, I wouldn't need a book to tell me how to use them. Other, better books show the same techniques and ideas, and show them with materials more easily available to us mere mortals.

The example that really did me in was the little girl's birthday party... with crocheted lace doilies on the drinks glasses, and all the little girls in Edwardian-style lace dresses. PLEASE! You want an example of a pretty child's birthday party, get the Shabby Chic entertaining book.

This book is filled with decorating tips for every occassion imaginable. Barbara's flair for the unique is delivered on each beautifully illustrated page. Get this book if you have a desire to fill your home with simplicity or elegance!

This book gives you lots of great ideas for every occasion of entertaining. I have some of the china patterns in the book and it is fun to see how they are used. The linens, flowers and table settings are all done to perfection. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves dishes and/or loves to entertain.

Great pictures and a great way to get started entertaining. Also, easy and inexpensive ideas wtih decoration (flowers, etc. you can get right from your own garden)
