Best Indoor Volleyball Made,
By
This review is from: Tachikara SV5W Gold Competition Premium Leather Volleyball (Sports)
I've been playing volleyball for 30 years and coaching for 20 years. The moment I was introduced to the Tach SV5W there was no turning back. It is the best volleyball made for serious volleyball players. Until two years ago it would have been a 5-star ball but the SV-5WC (color) balls have been hit and miss. Of 12 new balls I had to return 2 due to defects. Tachikara has a great return policy but one ball, after 3 returns, never was quite right.
But it's not stopping me from ordering 12 more this season!

I received the ball and immediately took it to our open gym volleyball sessions. It is the ball we always use now since everyone really likes it. It is soft to the touch and yet still allows for thunderous hits! In addition, the multi color ball makes it much easier to see and follow, especially when it is up in the lights.
Overall, this is a terrific ball!

Best ball, but lifespan issues,
This review is from: Tachikara SV5W Gold Competition Premium Leather Volleyball (Sports)
I've played with a lot of voleyballs, and the SV-5W gold is the best one. Better than any of the Molten balls. I've played long enough to know that I like a ball that goes "ka-chung!" when I hit it, but that won't feel like a raquetball when I hold it and won't leave strawberries on my arms from passing even gentle free balls (hello, Molten pro touch). The SV-5W gold is a great, great ball that fits the bill; everyone can agree on it, even ultra-brand-conscious twenty-year-old club players.
There is one problem: I have had to buy a new one of these each of the last three years, because near the end of the indoor season, or in the beginning of the next season, panels start to come off the ball and/or bulges develop when the bladder comes out like a hernia. I don't mind because $45 a year isn't a bad cost for a great playing volleyball (I'm a one-volleyball-at-a-time guy), but keep in mind that you won't build up a supply of old SV-5W golds for club practice.

I bought the ball from Amazon.com. It's really excellent ball to play with until I saw the leather start peeling on several spots within 2 months of the purchase. I contacted Tachikara to get replacement and it cost me $15 to ship it back. I just got NEW replacement 3 days ago (it took 1 month for inspection and shipping) and was doubt with the quality by looking at the assembly. I inflated the ball carefully following the instruction. I've been using for 2 days and now the ball is leaking on the valve. I don't want to spend another extra $15 to ship it back. It's really poor quality made for such a famous brand. I'm really out of luck.

Such a Good Volleyball that it was Stolen From Me,

I belong to a recreational volleyball league and decided to invest some money on a REALLY good volleyball. Seriously, before I bought this I had no understanding of cost concerning a good volleyball.
Having paid nearly $50 for this, I was really hopeful that I would love it (as would my teammates). When it arrived it was a little under-inflated but it was great-- the leather was soft and no matter how hard I hit the ball on my hand, my arm didn't hurt too much. Yes, this ball was so great that it was STOLEN from me. I don't know who the jerk is but I hope it was worth it ("Dear V-all Pilferer: YOU SUCK"). Despite having lost the ball, I decided to buy another one, the exact same ball. I'm still playing with it today and I love it. This time however, I have written my intials ALL OVER THE BALL with a sharpie. Obnoxious, yes, but I hate it when people steal my stuff.

Still the best indoor volleyball,

This ball is still my favorite. Every year I get at least one for a gift and playing 3 nights a week it will last about one year. The touch is firm but the ball keeps a true round shape forever. The prices around town and on the web span a lot of different ranges, however you should be able to get this for under $50 with enough hunting.

Been playing for almost 20 years (yikes) and year in and year out this ball is the still the best indoor ball out there. Great touch and feel. It is a bit hard when brand spank'n new - they do need to be broken in - but it's rather quick (couple of games?) and after that it's fantastic.
