Book Description

September 7, 2004
After Ben Walker returned from Vietnam, he accepted the only employment offered-a job flying for the Mob in Las Vegas. When his employers decided his services were no longer needed, they gave a retirement party on his behalf, but he failed to show. His employers did, however, succeed at having his wife murdered. When Walker questioned them about this, they said, “Nothing personal. It was just a routine precaution.” Walker did, however, take it very personally. He asked a friend for help and got it. And this time they would decide the rules of engagement, not some damn politician. You are cordially invited to take this journey into a world of cruel men with incomprehensible greed pitted against men who are just trying to survive. Though they are from different eras and battlefields, their goal was the same: Coping with P.T.S.D. (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

In Vietnam, the damn sociopaths in Washington told us through their Pentagon butt boys who we could kill and when we could kill them. It didn't matter to egomaniacs like Robert McNamara and Henry Kissinger that they were getting America's sons and daughters killed by the thousands. I think Kissinger's own words best describes why we ended up with 58,209 KIAs, 153,303 WIAs, and 1,948 MIAs. May God be their protectors if either one of them ever step foot in my yard.

"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy." -Henry Kissinger

5.0 out of 5 stars A winner!, January 30, 2008

I'll cut to the chase here and guarantee that if you enjoyed the movie CASINO, you'll enjoy Taciturn. As Miller said, "Joe Pesci played Tony Spilotro, my former employer, better than Tony could have."

Bob Miller goes by the name of Ben Walker in this book for a thousand good reasons; but it was Miller, a real person, who lived this nightmare, not some factual character named Walker.

I know of no other action adventure book, fiction or non-fiction, that has held my attention like Taciturn did, and without stupid car chases or a hero who could kill a T-Rex with his bare hands. The first few chapters could easily become a quality outline for a book in an entirely different genre. Taciturn is not one of Miller's bestsellers, but it should be.

Fast-paced and electric, this is a story that has that quality of deja vu all over again.
