My house has a three zone hot water heating system that uses three Taco zone valves. The heat in one zone was becoming increasingly slow to come on. A properly functioning Taco valve should open in less than two minutes.

The problem was in the "power head" that opens the water valve when the thermostat calls for heat. Fortunately, replacing this part is easy. All you have to do is turn off the power to the system and label and remove the three wires that connect to the power head. The old head twists off and the new one twists on without having to drain the water from the system. Then, reconnect the wires, turn the power back on, and you're good to go. The heat in the zone that was slow to respond now comes on quickly, and the rooms heat much faster.

A Must Have Backup Replacement for your heating system for the winter - don't get caught without spares! .... As simple to replace as a light bulb -- an old one WILL burn out (like a light bulb) after years of service. Quality is great - heavy duty (my old one lasted ~ 7 years before burn-out).

When the thermostat in a room or on a floor calls for heat, this is the item that opens or closes the valve that controls the flow of hot water from the boiler into the radiators. It's one of those things that you will remain unaware of - until it fails, and you're getting cold. The original lasted about 15 years; let's hope that this one does as well. Installation is simple. My fuel oil delivery and boiler maintenance provider wanted to charge me $303.00 just for this part, in addition to an installation charge based on $120.00 / hour, with a one hour minimum. It cost me just the $85.09 for this item including shipping, and I've since ordered a spare (because the house has several zones, and all the controls are the same age).

This product works as expected and easy to install. If you can open and close a ketchup bottle and work a screw driver, you can make this repair.
I appreciate it every cold day.

Very easy to install, no soldering required. Saved me at least $200 for a service call.

This was a simple, inexpensive fix. After 15 or more years, my first floor zone valve was inconsistently failing to respond to thermostat stimulus. The same thing happened 2 years previously to the second floor valve so I understood what was wrong. After turning off the furnace switch, I removed wires from the old valve power head. I removed the old one from the pipe-attached valve with 1/4 turn to the left; then replaced it with the new part using 1/4 turn to the right. Wires replaced identically. It worked right away and beautifully. Easy and muss-free. Saved on a plumber visit.

Amazed that someone had an exact replacement. Thought I would have to buy the entire zone valve, Expected an after market replica, pleasantly surprised to get the real thing. Switched the oil burner off, removed three wires, twisted on new head, and it works. I bought three, at this price, about the same as a single complete valve at a big box store.

I got the zone valve I needed in a timely fashion. I ordered a spare unit so I hope I don't require more for some time.
