I ordered this item from Amazon on the strength of its maker's description that it would fit a Mossberg 500 20 ga. that we recently purchased new. While the shell holder did fit in the prescribed holes (per installation instructions) on the shotgun, once mounted it was too far forward on the side of the shotgun to allow the slide pump to fully retract to the point of spent shell ejection and reload. Since it interferes with the required full action of the pump, it is unusable and perhaps even dangerous. Do not buy this for a newer Mossberg 500 -- it won't work properly.

Works well and holds shells securely, however I had to cut down one side of my Mossberg 500 youth 20 to make it work.

Make sure that the 8/32 hole for the ejector is completely tapped. If the screw meets any resistance go to the hardware store and get a 8/32 threading screw. It is a cheap fix to ensure your lack of headache length doesn't matter your taking it back out anyways. That should help with the shallow notch on the provided screw. Sometimes mossberg doesn't thread it through all the way. With the mounting plate and the screw through the trigger guard DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN! you will strip out the small aluminum threads then the saddle will swing all along the side of the gun.

I've done all the above, Hope this helps. Other then installer error. It is a sturdy tight design and I like it. :)

This shell holder installed quick and easy and it shipped fast as well. The only thing that I would change is I wish it held 5 shots instead of 4.

Pros: Holds up well after firing multiple shots. Hard plastic keep shells secure even when the shell's base is at the bottom.
Cons: None

I got this on Amazon for about $15 cheaper than from the manfacture's website. After receiving it, I mounted it farily easily even though it was my first gun modification I've done. The shells don't slip out right away with recoil either.

For people new to this, like myself, I will state that you must make sure you use the correct size screwdriver for the flathead screw (like with any type of screw) as the metal is slightly soft and can easily strip if you are not careful. Basically, don't use a screwdriver that is smaller than the screw head and you'll be fine.

I lined this up both ways on my Youth Mossberg 500 20GA and if installed, it would stop the fore end from operating all the way back, by about an inch an a half! The only difference in the Youth models I thought was the stocks. So I don't see how this fits any Mossberg 500 20 gauges?

Fits my Moss 20-ga as advertised. Installation was pretty straight forward and took about 15 mins. Great to find products for my 20-gauge.

It works well with my 20 guage mossberg 500. Due to the folding stock I added to my gun I had to make some modifications to it.
