Decent for the money,

Lets be honest most of us are not going on any house to house clearing assaults, with that being said a front grip is more of a Tacti-Cool than a tactical accessory. My primary reason for purchasing the TacStar grip was most of my shooting is benchrest at distances of 100 yards plus and the fixed Magpul fore grip (one of my previous purchases) just got in the way so I began my search for a folding grip that did not break the bank.
On to the TacStar; on the plus side the grip is sturdy, all polymer for the exception of the screws, folds as advertised, took a little persuasion to get on the rail, and best of all offered an excellent feel when folded. The only downside and somewhat expected at this price point was the grip when down has some play. I tried to tighten up the mount by removing the tap screw of which I thought was the purpose of the screw but as it turns out is basically a set screw to keep the mounting bolt on the rail. Conclusion: With AR type rifles becoming like Harley's in their personalization the sheer volume of accessory choices can become frustrating, and taking into consideration prices for fore grips can range from $7.95-$500 including such choices as lights, lasers and bi-pods you can spend more time shopping than shooting. But in all honestly for 99.9% of us it boils down to how much skin in the game we have versus what we want, so if you want a functional, well made, simple folding fore grip the TacStar for about $20 is a solid choice. You might not have the coolest gun on the range, but you can use the money you saved buying the TacStar on ammo and have more fun shooting than tinkering with useless overpriced rail accessories that most of us will never use or need.

I have ordered 3 different vertical folding grips in the past year and this is by far my favorite. i have order others that were to long for my liking and another that only folded back... this is the right size and folds both ways so A++ there.
The only small issues i had was it was a very tight fit getting on my lower rail but it did fit, it was so tight that I didnt even need the screw to hold it in. The other small issue was the button to fold it is pretty stiff. These issues were so small that it was not even worth me removing a star - but these might mean more to you other shoppers out there.

Awesome grip. Feels great. Works in the folded or in the down postion. Everyone should put this on their AR.
