Excellent Introductory Text on the Design Aspects of Missiles,
By George P. Burdell (Atlanta, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tactical Missile Design (AIAA Education Series) (Hardcover)
This textbook is a great introduction to the design aspects of tactical missiles. Fleeman describes the various discipline-level elements associated with missile design including propulsion, guidance, structures, and the like, and then synthesizes these elements into a process for how to actually design a missile. This text is critical reading for those involved in the design of powered vehicles, which unfortunately is becoming a lost art as the workforce ages and new tactical missile development programs are few and far between.
Fleeman's text is full of figures and detailed explanations, and includes software on the CD that uses spreadsheet-based analysis tools to size new missile designs. If you have an optimization package, it is relatively easy to link this software and rapidly explore the trade space. This is the best book of its kind, and an excellent text for a short course in missile design or as an element of a system design curriculum.

This is an excellent one stop course in tactical missile design/analysis. The CD included with the book has some very informative design studies plus excellent videos of tactical missiles in action.
