The list author says: "I had to break up my Listmania lists into separate categories. In this list I will delve into the Tactical Gear, and clothing that I recommend.
I have trained with Tactical teams, and served with the Military in all extreme environments. This list will be MY recommendation, as to what I prefer to utilize. The individual survivalist will need to personalize their kit to themselves, and their environment. Do Not fail to be flexible. In a survival situation, do not plan to be comfortable and do not expect the environment to be merciful.
I prefer an all Black outfit, but you may want to camouflage yourself to whatever the environment is. I really recommend Multicam, or woodland cammo. Black is just MY preference."
"This isn't the most comfortable hood, but it is kevlar for slash and fire protection. This would be a last line of defense against a pair of hungry Zombie jaws attempting to bite your neck or face."
"Use whatever goggles you are comfortable with. For the price, these are unbeatable. Just remember that they are tinted, and you will still need eye protection at night."
"situation will dictate how you decide to protect your face, just do it as needed. If you prefer a Military gas mask, a surgical mask, or just a face shield; just do something to keep your face free of Zombie Juices."
"Amazing Gloves, tough and durable. I have another pair that I cut the fingers off, but in the event of a mass epidemic you want all the protection you can get."
"Under Armour made a pair of Tactical socks that are incredible. Keeping your feet in good health is one of the most important things you need to do. Keep extra socks on hand, and feet dry."
"I always recommend Blackhawk gear, they have great customer service, and the quality is incredible. These boots are comfortable, and will last through tough jobs."
"I prefer a 1 point sling on my weapons. In a time of crisis, you will want to access your weapons speedily. As for the type of weapon, get something you are comfortable with and can get ammo for easily."
"Always be sure to have a trusty Machete on your person. Learn how to use the machete as well, a good Survivalist can do 90% of their tasks with a Machete alone."
"If you don't know what threats are in the area, it is good to keep your eyes open for anything. You don't want to get killed by radiation, you could have avoided."
"There may be some circumstances when you need to detain other scavengers. It is definitely a good idea to have a set of these. Don't forget a cuff key."
"You will need some cold weather gear, but as with the entire kit, make sure to tailor your kit to yourself. If you fail to keep yourself warm in cold weather, it is your own fault. Hypothermia is not a fun way to go."
