4.0 out of 5 stars Great for letter practice
There tactile letters were exactly what I was looking for. Great for those that do a version of Montessori at home. They fit the bill and are at least $10 cheaper than what you can find elsewhere. Also, I rarely see packs with both the upper and lower case letters. A great value and a fun way to practice pre-writing skills with young children.

3.0 out of 5 stars These are cardstock cards
These are great tactile letters for learning the alphabet. They are made out of cardstock so they bend very easily. These are good for mommy and me learning time not independent play. You cannot beat the price on these... The school supply store was charging $10 for just the uppercase letters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good developmental tool for toddlers, November 16, 2008

My children enjoyed tracing the letters at 3-1/2 to 4 years of age. At 4-1/2, they have moved on, so I got about 6-9 monhts of use out of these. The cards are high-quality, made on card stock with sandpaper-like material where the letters are. I would hold their fingers and trace along the letters the first few times, then they took over on their own after that. Using the cards was a good foundation to help them learn to write their letters later.

When I opened the package, sand was everywhere (inside the bag and on my floor). I couldn't use these letters with my preschooler because it would leave sand all over my house. I returned them.

I ordered two different brands of sandpaper letters/numbers together. I thought that these were made of sandpaper, but looked more like they had been glittered. The first time I gave one for a child to use, he rubbed off half of the stuff. Was not verey happy with the quality.

These are great practice cards for the price. They are made of a heavy card stock, and come with both upper, and lowercase letters. I first looked at sandpaper letters geared toward montessori teaching, and while they were of higher quality, they were also of a much higher price. Which if I were using them in a classroom, that would probably be the way to go. However I am using them at home with my five year old, so they don't need to last forever.

The card stock is much heavier than I expected from other reviews, and has held up great to moderate use. The letters themselves did have excess sand on them, put after a weeks use, they are perfect. I think the cards are a nice size to hold and trace, build words, or play matching games.

Most tactile or sand paper letters are more expensive, so they are great for the price. I wish that the letters included handwriting arrows. I would have given 5 stars for this, but it's easy enough to do this yourself.

These letters are great for the price. They are by far less expensive than the other types I looked at. They are not good for children playing with unsupervised because they are not super durable but are great for parents to work with their kids together. I have a child with learning differences and they are great for tracing with his finger and saying the letter and sound out loud while we trace. I also liked the fact that both the upper and lower case come with this package.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the classroom!, December 28, 2009

I teach first grade and bought these to use in my classroom with some children in mind that are not able to write the letters and spell the words with the same speed and accuracy as others in the class. These are great because they are very tactile and different from writing with pen and paper or whiteboards.
