An interesting coffee table book that serves as a visual compilation of Ando's most important projects to date. The volume covers a wide array of his work, spanning 35 years of his practice.

Each section is well-illustrated with photographs and drawings. However the floor plans are sometimes difficult to read due to the small scale and lack of indices or labels identifying spaces. Text is minimal, with only brief descriptions of projects.

Overall, a nice pictorial survey of an important architect's impressive body of work.

My wife bought this book for me for my birthday this summer, direct from Taschen. Taschen always has superb art books with great color photography, and this one is as good as any I have ever seen. I was unfamiliar with the work of Ando Tadao, and I am now pleased to say that as a result of this book, I have become a fan. Ando's blending of interior and exterior space (walk through a central courtyard, with a tree, to get from one part of the home to another), plus his use of concrete to create calm surfaces, have me wishing to see his buildings in person. The book has text in English, German, and French, and features both photos from multiple angles and also reproductions of his orginal drawings so that you can study the transition from plan to reality.

Great book. Fascinating architecture.

This version of the Book is medium size, not the bigger one.
I think all the works are on the book but not the full information about the buildings , so, you won't be able to imagine all the buildings.

For an Architect trying to study about Ando's work is not really good. sometimes there are not good sections or elevations to discover how good or bad the design is. if you want seriously to study Ando's work, this book is not the best one, but still you may enjoy it and get inspired.

The volume is very extensive and well done except for some of the drawings. First they are too small to be very useful, and second they are drawn with a very light colored ink. If this was done by intent then that was a bad decision. If it wasn't intentional than I got a defective book. Still a nice book that would be great with better drawings.

Good book, but not as beg as I expected. I have Meier and Hadid Complete works that are a great books and are at least time and a half this one. I expected Ando book would match the others since its the same concept and the same publisher.

Overall a great book for any Ando fan. Covers dozens of projects with beautiful photographs. I wish there was a little more written information on the projects but overall a great book to own
