7 projects (quilts) all sized around 114cm (45") x 135cm (53") - cot quilts. The projects are a combination of piecing and applique and look fairly quick to quilt. The applique patterns are full-size (no photocopying!) and fairly simple images (stars, teddies, flowers, a duck). One colourway for each pattern shown, but some alternative suggestions are given. Probably not a raw-beginners book - there are general instructions but they are at the back so you would be flipping around to find what is meant. That said, the patterns are not difficult so, other than providing some interesting ideas, an experienced quilter may not be challenged by the projects.
The projects - A Star is Born - classic Triple Irish Chain in pastels - arranged in "diagonals" leaving 6 central panels. The panels are appliqued with two stars and a heart. A stunning use of pastel scraps which requires precise but simple piecing to create the effect. - Miss Rosie Bear - a central panel with a "girl teddy bear" and pink flowers, surrounded by log cabin squares in pinks and greens and then appliqued floral vine border at top and ribbon border at bottom. The quilt will come together in well-defined sections (borders, central pattern, log-cabin blocks). More applique required than previous but still simple and very effective. - Mr Roger Bear - equivalent to Miss Rosie Bear, the log cabin squares are in a blue and green colourway. The central panel has a teddy in overalls and baseball cap. The top border has planes, ships baseball bats and footballs. The bottom border is sports flags (those classic American ones you see in tv shows). - Splish Splash - The central block is a yellow duck with umbrella and rubberboots. This is surrounded by windmill blocks in yellow and blues. This project has more complicated piecing (triangles which require exact piecing to be effective). Pictured on the cover, top right. - Buggie Business - Very simple piecing, more interesting applique with a more complicated edging. Windmill blocks in the corners with white borders. Central quilt consists of 12 x 8 1/2" squares - white appliqued aternating with single colour blocks in pastels. The appliques are a bee with a baseball hat, a dragonfly, a frog with flippers, a turtle, a butterfly and a ladybird. The quilt is edged with "prairie points" - the colours taken from the 8 1/2" squares. Pictured on the cover in main picture. - Stinky Feet - No applique, tied quilt using 12 assorted prints for the main pieced blocks. The blocks have the appearance of duck-feet, made from a combination of large and small triangles. - Little Dutch Windmills - no applique, large block windmills, embellished with featherstitching. Very pretty, effective quilt that should come together quickly. Pictured on back cover.

Baby Quilts Galore,
This review is from: Taddpole Quilts for Baby (Leisure Arts, No. 3518) (Paperback)
This is a really cute book with lots of quilt patterns to make for babies. It has simple quilt block patterns and more advanced applique patterns, so it's a good book for a beginner or for a seasoned quilter. I like this book a lot.

The ladies in my quilt group love this book. We make quilts for Loma Linda Pediatric Hospital, and any one of these patterns would be a perfect choice for our project. One of the ladies already made "Buggie Business" and it is adorable. The instructions are easy to follow and very accurate. I highly recommend this book to any quilter looking for a great selection of quilts for kids.
