The Best of Tae Bo,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tae-Bo II - Get Ripped Advanced (Two-Pack) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
These have to be the best Tae Bo videos yet. I am an aerobics instructor who teaches Kickboxing and I find these tapes to be quite challenging. They have also held my attention longer than some of the other Tae Bo tapes--I tend to get bored very quickly with exercise videos. I have been doing them faithfully for about a week now (I have cut back my teaching schedule because of conflicts with home schedule) and I will tell you--I see a difference in my abs and hips already. Especially the abs!! The Advanced tapes are definitely too much for a beginner--so if you are new to Tae Bo--do the Basic Tae Bo II tapes first. I have been combining this with the focus Abs & Glutes (which is very challenging also but VERY fast paced) and really like the results that I have gotten in such a short time. I highly recommend these tapes to Tae Bo lovers and advanced exercisers.

Unbelievable!,

Whoa who turned up the Tae Bo! This two pack of videos are fantastic, you'll be sweating up a storm. They are fast paced compared to the Original 4 pack advanced tape. There is also no resting in these workouts. Compared to the Original 4 pack Tae Bo, there is not much floor work and mostly the workout focuses on cardio. However you will be working those ab's, standing up! The tapes are also different, which is important when wanting to add diversity to your workout. I prefer these tapes to any of the older versions of Tae Bo, I'd recommend both these tapes and the Basic Tae Bo II set as well. Billy is on fire!

Tremendous workout,

This review is from: Tae-Bo II - Get Ripped Advanced (Two-Pack) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The Tae Bo II Get Ripped tapes are not for beginners. These are far and away the two hardest, most varied workouts I have ever done in my life. The first one in particular is almost unbelievable the first few times you do it, but the feeling of accomplishment once you master these puppies is well worth the pain. An hour of Tae Bo is SO much more effective than an hour of running, spinning or cycling. Your abs and glutes will get worked in ways you never realized were possible. Two things to remember, though: 1. Tae Bo will not make you look "ripped" unless you are combining the program with weight training, which will give you muscles to ripple. Nothing is a complete exercise program without upper-body resistance work. 2. Don't do these things more than three times a week, and take a couple of days off to rest! Billy advises people about this in his book, and it's really worth repeating. This is too intense a workout to do on a daily basis. You'll end up hurting yourself by not giving your legs, abs and rear enough time to rest and regenerate. Just like with working your arms with weights, you CAN'T work your abs every single day. And believe me: Tae Bo II is the most intense ab work you're likely to find. I put it on par with the best Pilates instruction, as long as you do it correctly.

They do mean "ADVANCED!",
By A Customer
This review is from: Tae-Bo II - Get Ripped Advanced (Two-Pack) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I worked out to the orignal Basic for 3 months. I felt great and thought I was ready for the big time- "ADVANCED". Alas my intentions were bigger than my muscles. I cannot imagine every being ready for this tape. An HOUR of DOUBLE-TIME Tae Bo seems a bit sadistic. (At one point I actually stopped and cheered the participants on incredulously. Even the assistants looked like they were ready to faint - one of which I'm convinced is a marine.) Some people like glimpses of death during their workout (I am not one of them). But to each her own. I just thought others should be warned the word "advanced" is not to be taken lightly.

Best Taebo advanced tape!,
By
This review is from: Tae-Bo II - Get Ripped Advanced (Two-Pack) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I bought the original Taebo tapes and used them for about 2 years off and on. The advanced tape had been my favorite because it was an hour long, but I had wished it had more cardio and was more intense. When I saw the "Get ripped" series of tapes I bought the advanced set and popped them in, was I in for a ride! These tapes are tough! Dont underestimate the power of Taebo! Even if you have been doing the original advanced tape these WILL make you sweat! I was practically in tears by the end the first time I did these tapes. They keep you constantly moving for an hour and push you to the limit. The second tape has about 8 minutes of floor work similar to that in the original advanced tape. Ive had these tapes for 9 months and do them about twice a week and they still provide an excellent workout. However the tears in my eyes are gone now! The only problem I have with these tapes are with the speed of some of the excersizes. Some of the segments with side kicks just goes way to quickly to get good form. I like that this tape is more intense and fast paced, but I have a hard time feeling that Im really getting the movements down. I have scoliosis and when I had been doing these tapes 4 times a week it really aggravated my back. Now I either do the segments that I know bother me slower or some days I just fast forward the 3 minutes. Other than that these are awesome tapes and you will not get bored with them in your collection.

OUTSTANDING!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tae-Bo II - Get Ripped Advanced (Two-Pack) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
These two videos are sensational! You get an amazingly high-powered, energetic, and extremely effective workout. These videos are absolutely advanced, but that is what I was looking for so I was so pleased with the tapes. They are 60 minutes long and you are "going" the entire time at high speed. I am an advanced exerciser-with a lot of running, lifting, step, basketball.... and I have never sweat like I do when I am doing these videos. I actually raised my arms in victory after I completed the first video. These are motivating videos that will really make you work, but you will be so glad that you gave the effort that you will just keep coming back. I really enjoy doing these tapes, I don't just do them to get the cardio done- I love it! Billy is such a genuine guy, a real motivator with excellent instruction. He moves quickly here, but he does tell you that if you don't know the form, go back to the instructional videos. But realistically if you don't know the correct form, you probably should not be doing the advanced tapes. I watch Shellie, in the background, for correct form when Billy is making his rounds of encouragement; she is awesome! I feel like I can hang in there a little longer by watching her determination, and before I know it-I'm done!! I will definitely buy all of the advanced ripped tapes, and I am waiting now for the Focus Abs and Glutes tape. I highly recommend these tapes if you are an advanced exerciser and enjoy a challenge-they are excellent!!!!

No Pain, No Gain,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tae-Bo II - Get Ripped Advanced (Two-Pack) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I was appalled at some of the "reviews" I saw, like the one saying this workout is horrible and "leaves you tired." NO KIDDING! That's what exercise is supposed to do! And someone else wrote something like "no one really gets ripped with these tapes, and it's all a marketing ploy." What this person doesn't realize is that NO amount of exercise will do you good if you're not following a balanced diet and if you're not putting your all into what you're doing. The reason there's a 95% diet failure rate in America is precisely because of attitudes like this; you have to work hard if you want to be rewarded, and you've got to make the OVERALL effort, and that means doing both aerobic and anaerobic exercise on a consistent basis and combining it with smart eating. With that being said, Tae-Bo II: Get Ripped! is a very rewarding experience if you do the moves correctly. Billy is always an inspiration and keeps you on your feet the whole time. Trust me, during vigorous workouts like this, it's easy to give up long before the tape is over, but you owe it to yourself to do as much as you can without hurting yourself. I've been doing various Tae-Bo workouts for several months now and I haven't gotten bored with the routine because it WORKS, and I'd rather get bored with something that works for me then get excited with something that really doesn't give me the results I want. I found Tape 1 to have more strength training (particularly a lot of kicks to strengthen thighs), while Tape 2 had more cardio with great routines geared toward abs and glutes. Have fun!

Heart pumping high intensity cardio,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tae-Bo II - Get Ripped Advanced (Two-Pack) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is one of, if not, the most challenging high intensity cardio workout. If you need to amp up your workout, or break through a plateau, don't look beyond this series (the new Tae Bo 2004 series isn't nearly as tough). Tape 1 of the series is quite challenging. It goes at a faster pace, there are more kicks and combos, and a few strength moves that'll leave you breathless. The toning/strength portion in the end is brief, but that's where Tape 2 comes in. Tape 2 will get your heart pumping but the cardio portion is a tad shorter (by about 5-7 minutes) and done at a slightly lower intensity. I won't take points off for the shorter cardio because the strength and toning segment is quite challenging. I've been doing this workout for a few years now and it's still tough for me to hold the squat near the end, it's a real leg burner. Billy also puts you through a series of lunges and squat/kicks that'll get your legs long and lean. He'll keep you motivated with his go-go-go cheerleading and at times, even yell like a drill sargent. Sure it's annoying at times, but who cares, just concentrate on your form, keeping your abs held in tight etc. It's not a perfect workout, there are a few mistakes; he doesn't even up the sides or does more reps on one side...but it's really not a big deal when you're getting such an awesome workout. Just start on a different side each time and rotate workouts 1&2 to get the maximum benefits of cardio, and strength. You will lose weight, tighten up, and feel fabulous if you stick with this workout. I could take off a point because of the miscues and mistakes but I won't, simply because this workout is the toughest I've ever come across, there's no other high intensity cardio workout on the market that can rival this heart pumping challenge.

The Best!!!,
By "leeseat" (Edinburgh) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tae-Bo II - Get Ripped Advanced (Two-Pack) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have quite a collection of Taebo tapes, and have to say that this is by far THE BEST!!!. Both tapes are faster..the pace is much, much quicker, and Billy is absolutely unrelenting...there are no breaks for a solid 52 mins!!!! Time and time again when I think it can't get any more challenging it does..I have done the advanced tapes 4 times this week, and my arms are so sore (in that pleasurable sort of way!), and my waist definitely got a good workout. On one tape all the floor work is done standing up which makes it even more challenging, and on the other tape the floor work is just minimal...The tapes are a good buy, and if you are a Taebo Junkie you will definitely enjoy these as part of your collection

The champagne of workouts...the best out there..I like the fact that the students look REAL..There are a few senior citizens,a few full figured gals, some 40-ish ladies, and some regular guys mixed in with the gym gods and godesses showing that Tae-Bo is good for all..The workout is for your entire body and the music is great..I would reccomend everyone get this DVD if you have to own something...
