5.0 out of 5 stars The Instructional Tape is not meant to be a workout!
When ordering this tape, you will want to buy the Basic also. The Instructional tape tells you how to perform the moves. I use the Basic tape and refer to the Instructional whenever I feel I need to improve my form. Taebo is a very fun and effective way to get in shape!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Real Help For All Ages, January 23, 2000
By A Customer
I am almost 60 years old and never thought that this would be for me. You are never to old to learn,it is great exersize and leaves you feeling wonderful even if you can't kick as high as they do.I may buy the advanced after a few months of limbering up with the basic. I can see improvment in my flexibility after only a week. I find it a great addition to my bowflex routine and my weight watchers diet. 30 lbs off and dropping fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars This instructional video is great!, November 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Tae-Bo Workout: Instructional [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have never seen an instructional video as thorough as this. Billy takes the time to explain to you how to properly execute every move. If you are looking for a video to help you get started or if you have a Blanks video and you are not sure if you are executing the moves correctly this is a must have. One thing to point out is this an instructional video and not the actual workout video. Beware you still will work up a sweat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Aerobics for the clumsy, March 25, 2002
I am not an exercise fanatic. I'm not even an exerciser. I don't like being sweaty, I don't like being worn out, and I don't like being around people who do like those things. Plus, I am just not the most physically coordinated person on earth. I remember a soccer game in gym class, my sophomore year in high school, in which I tripped over my own feet four times. Part of that was probably nervousness, but even now, nearly ten years later, I occasionally stumble into a doorway as I'm walking through it, even alone in my own apartment. I could fall down and somehow miss the floor, I'm so clumsy.

You won't believe this--I can do Tae-Bo.

The moves are easy. I mean, E A S Y. It's an incredibly efficient system of very basic punches and kicks that truly do work the entire body. I've been doing the Basic workout now for just under a month, and I can see muscle pairs developing that I have never seen on myself. Not only that, but I can do this workout, every day, in my living room, without tripping myself up. Or knocking anything over. Or even stepping on my cat.

You will get tired, and sweaty, but after all that's the point of an aerobics workout. I find Billy Blanks a lot less annoying than most the people on these kinds of tapes; he has a an engaging presence and takes the workout seriously, but not too seriously. This is the first experience I've had with doing anything athletic where I felt real success, and I recommend it to people whenever the opportunity arises. If you decide to try it, I suspect you will, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific workout, but a little outdated..., April 27, 2000
I must say that I love Billy Blanks and his whole program! I bought these tapes and they sat in the shrinkwrap for a year while I was pregnant and on bed rest. Two months after delivering, I pulled them out and popped them into the VCR...WOW! I have done just about every exercise video out there, Jane Fonda, Susan Powter, Reebok, you name it and I have probably tried it. Taebo is terrific, and these tapes were a good introduction to taebo. I used them for 3 weeks to help me get back into the exercise groove. However, I really feel like they do not fully represent the taebo technique. I learned a lot more about correct form when I purchased the "Live" tapes and then started doing taebo tv through my dish. I wouldn't recommend that you buy these particular tapes, but I give taebo and Billy Blanks 5 stars. I have lost 10 pounds and 4 inches since beginning in February. Billy Blanks inspires me to reach within myself and put all my spirit and focus into my workouts. Please, please, do an instructional video first before trying to do the regular workout. If you pay attention and listen to what Billy says, this will keep you from hurting yourself. I have a bad knee that precludes me from doing step aerobics or Jazzercise, but I have never had any trouble with taebo. I am sold on this workout folks!

5.0 out of 5 stars SOMETHING FUN THAT REALLY WORKS!, March 5, 2000
By A Customer
As a skiier, high altitude climber and ultra marathon cyclist, I'm already in pretty good shape. Aerobics claseses were never challenging to me and always seemed rather ho-hum. Then I discovered Tae-Bo. Tae-Bo actually makes aerobics fun. The moves themselves are simple enough for beginners, while the pace is fast enough to challenge more advanced enthusiasts like me. I've been using the tapes for about a month and I've noticed an amazing increase in my aerobic fitness and flexibility--more than I thought would even be possible. But Tae-Bo is more than aerobics. This intense workout is also great for lowering stress and fostering a positive attitude. Some of my friends have lowered their cholesterol and blood pressure with Tae-Bo while others I know have lost an amazing amout of weight. To those who say the moves are too difficult--if you can't kick as high as the models on the tapes--don't! Just do what you can. You'll still see the benefits!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fantastic, October 31, 1999
By A Customer
I started doing Tae-Bo almost 2 months ago after not having exercised in 3 years. This exercise works!. Yes, it is difficukt at first but it gets easier. I just added the 8 minute tape to my basic workout and it kicks butt! I really just needed to tone up and I have definitley noticed the difference in my arms and legs and my stomach is getting there as well:). For people that say this tape can cause injury, if you listen, Billy Blanks tells you to go at your own pace, which means you do not have to go as fast, kick or punch as high as the people on the tape. You need to keep in mind that those people have probably been doing this for a long time and it will be a while to get to that level. However, if you keep at it I am sure that most peole will get the results that they need. Keep Tae-Boing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable, October 24, 2003
By A Customer
I'm still in shock about my results from this video. Over a period of 4 months I just about killed myself, but came out on top. The amusing thing is that I didn't really lose any weight (I think I traded fat for muscle) but I went from a size 14 to a size 8 (ladies, all of you know how huge that is). These tapes are gratifying and an incredible workout. That 30 minutes of Tae Bo really shows you what you're made of. Billy Blanks is an excellent instructor and, after a little practice, the moves are not at all complicated. I highly recommend this tape.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally Motivated!, December 20, 2000
By A Customer
I have been doing the Basic TaeBo workout for one month and I have lost 16lbs. I am very surprised by the bad reviews. This workout tape is the best out there. For the people complaining about the production, it is not a movie you are supposed to be concentrating on your own movements. I am planning on starting the Advanced workout by Christmas and I can't wait. I would recommend this workout to anyone who wants to see significant results.
