Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

As fans of the Taffy Sinclair series know, a major pitfall to being beautiful is the envy and viciousness it often incites among other girls. This observation is continued in Haynes's newest story, in which the seventh grader goes to Hollywood to star in a TV movie entitled Nobody Likes Tiffany Stafford . Taffy identifies with the film's main character, as does Paige Kramer, a former child star who's hoping for a comeback. The part of Tiffany had nearly been hers until Taffy came along; now Paige must settle for a secondary role. She tries making life difficult for Taffy, who's amazed at how closely art can imitate life. Taffy benefits from the experience, however, and so will her readers. The book provides revealing glimpses of human behavior, and shows the role empathy plays in relationships. Another plus is the information on movie-making that is seamlessly integrated with the story. Ages 9-12.

More About the Author

My 76th juvenile novel, THE DEARLY DEPARTED (ISBN#9781590923818) was published in April, 2007, and my three-book Christmas series called The Santa Diaries will be out this fall. I also write for young adults and am busy revising a YA novel for my agent. I have written historical novels, mysteries, supernatural/ghost stories and humor. Lots of humor. I have authored four book series: TAFFY SINCLAIR (Bantam Skylark), its spin-off series, THE FABULOUS FIVE (Bantam Skylark), BOYTALK (Random House Bullseye) and BONE CHILLERS (HarperPaperback). The BONE CHILLERS became an ABC Saturday Morning TV series in 1996. In Hollywood, I took part in the filming of public service announcements shown at the end of each episode. What a blast!

My humorous novel, THE GREAT MOM SWAP, became an ABC Saturday Night Movie in 1995. When I'm not writing, I'm teaching "Writing the Middle-Grade Novel" and "Writing the Young Adult Novel" online for UCLA Extension.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lights-ready-aCtIoN!!, August 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Taffy Sinclair Goes to Hollywood (Paperback)
This one, like "The Truth About Taffy Sinclair", isfrom Taffy's point of view. Finally, after her little parts in TVshows and commericals, Taffy is off to Hollywood to play the main role in a TV movie. There she must deal with the snooty Paige Kramer who wants her part and try to figure out whether one of her co-stars, the teen idol Raven Blaine, likes her or not. Plus, she's worried that her best friend back home is going out with her boyfriend! This is a good book with a lot of plot twists!!

This review is from: Taffy Sinclair Goes to Hollywood (Paperback)
Another great story! In it Taffy Sinclair gets a starring role in Nobody Likes Tiffany Stafford, a tale that mirrors (according to Taffy) her own life and problems with the fabulous five! By doing the role, she learns some lessons about life and how not to judge others!
