Not really for young kids,
This review is from: Tag Ball One On One Set Paintball Simulator (Toy)
I bought this for my young son but I ended up putting it up on the shelf until he is ~10-12 years old. The mechanism to "cock" the gun is a too hard to pull and complicated for anyone younger.
Other than that, it is a nice enough piece. I've used it and it works well. Construction is well built.

My boys love it. 9, 12, 14 years old. They are having so much fun. Just don't aim at face it can sting. Good Range for shooting. Have to count balls to keep up with them.

This is excellent fun. My 14-year-old son and I love it. Well worth the cost -- well made, cleaver engineering.
