I got this a few days ago. I just finished disk 1.
So far it got me to really speak the language and get the accent. It focused on really basic and practical conversations one might have with someone who speaks Tagalog. I've tried Rosetta Stone before. It works, but it takes up a lot of time and requires undivided attention because it's partly visual. One always has to be looking at the screen. This Pimsleur method is all audio. When I'm tired, I could just close my eyes and still follow along with the lessons. For me, it works better than Rosetta Stone. What I like most is that I can multitask. I pop the CD into my computer and let it play. I surf the web, look at pictures, type, read a few things, all the while listening to the CD and speaking Tagalog phrases. |
