5.0 out of 5 stars The best in my collection!, August 6, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Tagalog-English/English-Tagalog Standard Dictionary: Pilipino-Inggles, Inggles-Pilipino Talahuluganang (Hippocrene Standard Dictionaries) (Paperback)
I have six different books and three software programs on Tagalog. This is by far the best and most complete dictionary I have ever seen. It even has Slang Tagalog words, which is even hard to find on the internet. Even my Filipino friends say this is the best and most accurate English/Tagalog dictionary they have ever seen. The grammar lesson and vowel sounds is very well written, plus there's a nice section in the back that gives you some Tagalog songs & Proverbs (sayings). You will not find another dictionary with over 20,000 entries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Dictionary & Good Grammar Review, August 10, 2006

This review is from: Tagalog-English/English-Tagalog Standard Dictionary: Pilipino-Inggles, Inggles-Pilipino Talahuluganang (Hippocrene Standard Dictionaries) (Paperback)
This is a really great dictionary...most of all it has the proper pronunciations with accent marks written. All the accent marks are explained with examples. The first 10 or so pages is a concise and excellent exposition of the grammar rules of this great language. The dictionary portions are great too, but just remember K comes after B in Tagalog and NG comes after N! hehe

Then there are lists of useful words at the end of the book, Numbers, Colors, Calendar Terms, a list of Antonyms, Foods, Names for Family members, and Philippino proverbs/sayings.

Really a great book for anyone who is truly trying to learn Tagalog, not just get a couple phrases. Learn the language!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have For Anybody Interested In Tagalog, August 14, 2006
By
This review is from: Tagalog-English/English-Tagalog Standard Dictionary: Pilipino-Inggles, Inggles-Pilipino Talahuluganang (Hippocrene Standard Dictionaries) (Paperback)
To start off with I love this dictonary. I have used this book for over 4 years now. I used when I lived in the philippines for 2 years and had to learn tagalog. I've been home now for 2 years and still use it all the time. It has almost any word you will ever come across and then some. It gives a list on Tagalog Orthography, affixes, infixes, suffixes, prefixes and others. It has a basic grammer chart and explanation. My experiance learning tagalog would have been much harder with out this must have dictonary.
