5.0 out of 5 stars excellent adventure series, September 30, 2007
I read this book (as one of the whole series),with my son, and he loved it. He is 9 years old and in 3rd grade. We read at night and use this as a way to increase reading orally fluency. It has realy helped because he enjoys the story, even though there is a girl in it. It would probably be fun for a girl to read, even though there is a boy in it....thanks

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for 7 year boys, February 18, 2008
This is the 5th book in the series and my son has improved his reading dramatically since the first book. It's a shame there aren't more books in the series.

Beast Quest #4. Easy reading. Good fantasy and short. My son wasn't a big reader, but this was interesting and short enough to get him started.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My 3rd grade son loved the first book, but has actually started to prefer the Rowan of Rin series to this one. We are finishing this series, and it is a great series to engage boys in reading "their" type of adventure stories. However, if your child is a more fluent reader, it is a little short on the rich details of more advanced writing. The characters don't encounter the "beasts" until the very end of the books and I guess after reading the Rowan books with him, we got a little spoiled. Still, if you have a 2nd grade level reader or around that, these can't be beat for boys.
