This hose reel began rusting within a month of placing it in use. Unfortunately knowing I had a one year warranty I did not rush to contact Amazon. The seller, Hardware sales said that I must pay to ship it back to them before they will replace it. They said it would cost about $40.00 to ship. Bottom line is this hose reel will rust very quickly. There are other negative reviews about this. I would not recommend purchasing it. I would not purchase anything from Hardware sales or World Factory Inc. either. I am also disappointed in Amazon.

I was initially happy. True a few nuts and bolts loose in box, but all there and most loosely screwed in holes. Also extra package of bolts, that fit nothing on reel. But again parts all there and arrived in good shape. Easy to assemble, but needed some metric wrenches, which I had. But some people do not have metric tools.

No leaks. Rubber tires smelled, but I am sure that will go away in a few weeks.

I left outside for a few days and it got rained on. Rust is starting in a few places. So not sure how its seeming lack of good rust resistance will affect its service life.

ONE YEAR LATER, July 2011: Rust is progressing and paint is peeling in some areas. At some point I may sand rust and paint with rusty metal primer. I think looking at 3-5 year service life. To get 5 year service life will probably require application of rusty metal primer. May get longer service life if keep after rust.

Assembles in about 1/2 hour. I have 200 ft. of hose on mine and it handles that length nicely. A downside for some is that this model takes up more garage square footage over the winter, but you'll still be using it long after your neighbor has run through 2 or 3 of those molded plastic ones.

I opened the box to find 11 hardware parts floating around loosely. There are 33 parts listed in the instructions, and no sign of the other 22. And, 4 of the 11 do not match anything on their list of 33.

There is no hardware bag, so I guess they just toss the parts into the box before taping it up? The box is about 3' x 3' and the seams are not taped fully closed. The parts that are included are not labeled, so I will have to find a way to distinguish bolts and washers that are listed in millimeters.

The box smells strongly of moth balls, so one positive is that this metal and rubber product won't be eaten by moths while in storage.

I have collected the parts together and set them aside for 48 hours to wait for the "hardware store" to call me about this, as their customer service on the weekends is a voice mail system.

This is the opposite of what one expects from a premium product, and how to spend a Saturday afternoon.

We'll see what the vendor does. The product is a mess.

Update: Leader hose lasted only 1 year and chrome inlet tube is rusting.

No more junky plastic hose reels. This reel does not tip over when you start pulling out hose or get jammed up. I could not find one like it at the big box stores.

The hose cart looks quite nice but it has not had a "work-out" due to fall coming and Irene before that!
My disappointment lies in the fact that misc nuts/washers/bolts etc were missing. and some were found in the bottom of the shilling carton, entirely loose.

I put the reel together in about 10 minutes, very nice and sturdy, it is easy to maneuver around in tight spaces, no loose or clincking sound. Hopping to use it for a long time to come.

Very please with the item and condition in which it arrived. Is very handy item
especially if you live in the country.
