I don't know any Chinese and I don't know how good a translation this is but Douglas Wiles Lost T'ai-Chi Classics of the Late Ch'ing Dynasty covers the same material and is much easier to read. Jwing-Ming often uses two words where one seems to work just as well and looses clarity for it. Wiles also goes to great length to set out how probable it is the texts are...

5.0 out of 5 stars The old old school - translated, September 25, 2008
This review is from: Tai Chi Secrets of the Wu & Li Styles: Chinese Classics, Translations, Commentary (Paperback)
This information, in Chinese manual, is not sold in Chinese book stores in New York City.

Once upon a time, it was. Many good instructions books were found in NYC Chinese book stores.
Now, the books are there to make money, not to pass on
precious information for the next generation.
Some information cannot be trusted, seems fake.
Or only the "top layer" is taught, not even the true basics.

Finding a good instructor is just as difficult today.
As many cannot duplicate the results of the true masters.
And are teaching just to make money. It is an embarrassment to their teachers.

The information in here, is precious.
I read a little, and looks real.
The OLD Chinese style of writing is included.
Today, most Chinese don't know how to write a sentence
using this old way. I met 1 in church. Most don't know.

This old way of writing.
That's how information was passed down to the next generation.
Now available and translated by Dr. Yang.

Don't know how the Dr. Yang obtained these old writings,
but we should be glad he did, and yes he has to sell it to
make a living.

Get a used copy from [...] if you can.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Greatest resources!!!, April 6, 2008
This review is from: Tai Chi Secrets of the Wu & Li Styles: Chinese Classics, Translations, Commentary (Paperback)
I don't even study Wu or Li style Taijiquan. I study Yang style. And let me tell you that this book or any of Dr. Yang's books or DVD's are worth every penny you spend on them.
To get one of his books or DVD's is like striking a gold deposit.
He is a great teacher, Martial Artist and writer.
You cannot go wrong with ANY of his products.
