4.0 out of 5 stars so true, March 18, 2010
This review is from: Tai Chi In Your Life: 8 Principles That Can Change Your Life While Learning and Growing with Tai Chi (Paperback)
I have read many, many books in the martial arts field and most all have at least a few truths in them. Tai Chi in Your Life however is packed full of them.
This book provides great examples of how Tai Chi can influence a beneficial way of life and not just physical technique or style history. Careful reading however will provide benefits to technique and self defense.
The book can be read and understood by any level of experience.
I expect to learn even more on the second and third reading as it leads my mind and actions to greater intention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tai Chi translated, August 1, 2010
This review is from: Tai Chi In Your Life: 8 Principles That Can Change Your Life While Learning and Growing with Tai Chi (Paperback)
This book begins with deceptively simple language similar to many disciplines, but builds momentum in its fierce call to focus one's intentions and apply the techniques to all aspects of one's life. Reading it through a second time, I am even more aware of this momentum and practical application to my own life. Being a longtime student of yoga, esoteric Christian and Sufi disciplines, I knew little about the practice of Tai Chi. This author opened a door, showing me the precise relevance the eight principles of Tai Chi have in dealing with the myriad challenges of daily living in a techno-driven, often fragmented culture. This book is not meant to convert the reader to the practice of Tai Chi, but instead invites the reader to embrace its powerful and timeless concepts in all aspects of their lives, no matter what their spiritual practice or orientation. As a librarian, I recommend this book to the 615s of any collection, including high school libraries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tai Chi in Your Life, December 14, 2011
This review is from: Tai Chi In Your Life: 8 Principles That Can Change Your Life While Learning and Growing with Tai Chi (Paperback)
Tai Chi in Your Life is a great book as it relates to the tai chi way of life as my initial review reflects.
But now, after multiple readings, I've discovered that the book also applies to my business of planning with new business owners and the self employed.
Sifu Napier's 8 principles all can be referenced directly to actions needed by the business start-up. Each business owner will read, study and interpertate differently according to their specifics.
However, all will have the same overall benefit of improving the odds of a successful new(or an existing)business venture.
This book could be classified as a business book and still be a very rewarding and helpful read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tai Chi book review, August 22, 2011
This review is from: Tai Chi In Your Life: 8 Principles That Can Change Your Life While Learning and Growing with Tai Chi (Paperback)
I have been a student of Dale Napier for over 5.5 years. I recommend this book for both Tai Chi beginners and advanced students. Dale is a student of the Tao and weaves Taoist philosophy into his text. He has a hypnotizing and calming voice, and perhaps another version of the book can have audio or video!

This review is from: Tai Chi In Your Life: 8 Principles That Can Change Your Life While Learning and Growing with Tai Chi (Paperback)
Dale Napier writes in a clear straightforward manner to explain how the principles of Tai Chi as a physical excercise form can be translated and adopted as an approach to everyday living - taking your knowledge of Tai Chi to a whole new, and much more powerful, level. This book could be read by a practitioner of any Tai Chi form.

Tai Chi in Your Life shows that Tai Chi is much more than « just » a martial art or a physical exercise; it is a real philosophy of life! I like how the author explains the 8 Principles in an easily understandable way. It is a great book for those who are looking for applying the concepts of Tai Chi not only during the class but also in their daily life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seeing is believing., June 20, 2011
This review is from: Tai Chi In Your Life: 8 Principles That Can Change Your Life While Learning and Growing with Tai Chi (Paperback)
I actually had the pleasure meeting Dale on several occasions. At first I was a skeptic and I did not realize how discipline you have to be to follow and learn the art of Tai Chi. This book is excellent and very well done. I would really recommend this to anyone who really wants to learn Tai Chi.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Thoughtful Presentation beneficial to Tai Chi practitioners of all levels, June 16, 2011
This review is from: Tai Chi In Your Life: 8 Principles That Can Change Your Life While Learning and Growing with Tai Chi (Paperback)
MR Napier's attention to 8 Tai Chi principles and how they can be applied in your everyday life benefits the beginner by helping to define tai chi as a way of life while giving them a direction in which to grow. The experienced Tai Chi Practitioner will have much to reflect upon and be challenged to discover these various facets in their practice and find ways to expand the benefits of Tai Chi throughout ones daily life.
Very well written: a clear presentation of great depth.
I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Tai Chi Book For Americans, June 16, 2011
This review is from: Tai Chi In Your Life: 8 Principles That Can Change Your Life While Learning and Growing with Tai Chi (Paperback)
At last, a book about Tai Chi that doesn't require me to become an expert in Chinese culture or religion! Napier takes the Chinese concepts and spells them out in terms that any American can understand. I like that. I learned a lot. In fact, I've already started re-reading it, and I'm amazed how much more I'm picking up the second time around. This book is a must-have for anyone serious about Tai Chi.
