5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Wow! Wow! Brand new to Tai Chi and Surprised!
I've never tried Tai Chi before, but I do adore yoga! I read that tai chi can actually help rebuild bone density and started checking into before I became pregnant, but never got a video. I'm looking for some variety in my pregnancy workouts and figured I'd go ahead and take the plunge and buy this DVD. I got some money for my birthday, so I just looked at it as a gift...

2.0 out of 5 stars great workout, poor dvd quality
Loved this workout to begin with but DVD started freezing/skipping after only 2 months. Tried cleaning it with dvd cleaner, that didn't help. I bought a couple other pregnancy workout DVDs but this was my favorite and it was also more expensive than the others. It skips less when I play it on my laptop but impossible to use in either of my two regular dvd players.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Wow! Wow! Brand new to Tai Chi and Surprised!, June 11, 2005
This review is from: Tai Chi For Expecting Mothers (DVD)
I've never tried Tai Chi before, but I do adore yoga! I read that tai chi can actually help rebuild bone density and started checking into before I became pregnant, but never got a video. I'm looking for some variety in my pregnancy workouts and figured I'd go ahead and take the plunge and buy this DVD. I got some money for my birthday, so I just looked at it as a gift.

My goodness, was I surprised! I watched the DVD first and then set it aside for about a week, thinking it's more for relaxation and that was that. Today I've walked 3 miles and in a lot of pain from it! I'm also 7 1/2 months pregnant and it's hot outside! So the kids went to bed early and the husband was taking care of stuff outside and I saw the DVD, decided it'd be a good way to wind down, put it in and eagerly waited to begin.

About 1/4 of the way through it, I noticed my heartrate was actually up and I was developing a light sweat! Could this be possible? It is! I used to run and do lots of aerobics and I knew what a "light sweat" was like after doing yoga, but this "light sweat" was different. I know it must sound insane, but I could actually feel as though toxins and bad things were leaving my body! I couldn't wait to get a drink of water afterwards! I immediately drank (no joke) 1 liter of water (I have the aquafina bottle right here to double check that amount) and feel not only as though I've exercised and done something good for my body and baby, but I actually feel "cleaner."

I will definitely be checking into Tai Chi after this baby arrives! I highly recommend giving this product a try!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not sweaty, March 2, 2006
This review is from: Tai Chi For Expecting Mothers (DVD)
This is very gentle and soothing. If you haven't been exercising, you may well find that your arms and legs are a bit sore the next day. I'm an intermediate exerciser at best, and for me this is good for relaxation, and for easing some aches and pains. Great to have on the shelf when you don't have the energy for anything else.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to relax and focus, August 10, 2005
This review is from: Tai Chi For Expecting Mothers (DVD)
I got this DVD based on the reviews listed. I didn't have an exercise regimine before getting pregnant but I knew I wanted to be doing something and that Tai Chi would be a good place to start. The commentary is easy to follow and it takes about 40 minutes to do the whole set of exercises. While people who have done aerobics or other strenuous activity may find it too slow, I find it is a good workout for my muscles and has helped me focus on my breathing. Each time I finish I feel so much better and ready to take on the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Video, May 19, 2005
This review is from: Tai Chi For Expecting Mothers (DVD)
This video is wonderful. I was concerned about what type of exercise I would do that would not be too overwhelming considering that I never exercised before the pregnancy. The Tai Chi exercises are very calming and beneficial in reducing back pains and cramping. I feel so alive and refreshed after each session.
I would recommend this video to every expecting mother!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend this DVD, July 27, 2006
This review is from: Tai Chi For Expecting Mothers (DVD)
I got this DVD based on the reviews and I'm glad I bought it. I feel really energized and relaxed after doing the tai chi. I thought the interviews on the special features menu about tai chi was interesting and learned a lot about what makes tai chi so different than anything else I have tried. I feel like I'm doing something really healthy for myself and my baby when I'm doing this DVD. Well worth it. Good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended, April 18, 2005

Both the content and the quality of this DVD are excellent! The exercises are easy to follow and the video moves at a relaxing but steady pace, while still engaging the viewer. The instructor is informative and easy to understand. These exercises are perfect for any stage of pregnancy, even late pregnancy when your range of motion is decreased, and the Tai Chi movements are beautiful to watch and perform. I highly recommend this video to anyone looking for either pregnancy-appropriate exercises or for a great Tai Chi warm up.

I had never tried Tai chi before and decided to give this DVD a shot. I purchased it prior to finding out I was pregnant in hopes of gaining some relaxation and connecting with myself. I was very surprised that not only did I enjoy it, but I found it relaxing and was actually a little sore the next day. I didn't think Tai chi would be a workout but my legs thought otherwise!!!
The instructor is easy to follow and very knowlegdable about the subject. There is even a question and answer section included.
I highly recommend this DVD to anyone looking for that extra connection to themselves and their baby!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Love Love this DVD, July 21, 2006
This review is from: Tai Chi For Expecting Mothers (DVD)
Some people swear by the use of their heating pad, body pillow or garden tub during their pregnancy.... my saving grace was this dvd. I picked it up in my first trimester and used it three times a week faithfully! The music was soothing as was the voice and manners of the instructor. The 45 minute dvd was always a great workout and I loved the meditation portion of the dvd. A great buy!

I have only good things to say about this great dvd. It is well worth the money and you will thank yourself during and after your pregnancy. So many woman take pregnancy as a green light to eat 5 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches a day and just decide to "work it all off later". I am here to tell you that the "later" takes years. I learned my lesson the first time around and with my second child, I decided to give this DVD a try. Not only did I have increased energy, but I felt great! The instruction is clear and the exercises are easy to follow. I always felt great after the work out. The meditation in the dvd was very helpful. I should add I was not a huge fan of exercise tapes--- however, I love this DVD! Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Enjoyed This Workout, July 19, 2006
This review is from: Tai Chi For Expecting Mothers (DVD)
I recently bought this DVD because my doctor recommended it. It has some really good reviews so I thought I'd try it out.

After doing the exercises, I felt great. The instuction is clear and the exercises easy to follow. I thought the quality of the DVD was good and enjoyed the music and set design. It made it a very relaxing experience. Although the moves are slow, I got a good workout on my legs and felt very refreshed afterwards. I really liked the meditation portion at the end. I have a few of the pregnancy yoga tapes and the tai chi is a very different form of exercise. It is done standing up and you move the whole time. I really liked it.

I would definitely recommend this video to anyone who wants to stay in shape during their pregnancy.
