Do you know the history of your alma mater? I am a Georgia Bulldog and I had no idea I knew so little about the Dawgs and the rest of the SEC. Learn about it all here. The tailgating recipes are great too. A perfect gift idea for the SEC Football crazed fan in your life. I have considerably boosted my water cooler bragging rights with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book Worth Stealing!, December 16, 2002

This book is really something if you are an avid southern football fan. If you are an SEC alumni, it is a must-have. In addition to a history of college football in the South, all of the unique histories and traditions of the schools are there...along with some very tasty Cajun tailgating recipes named after each team. Great bowl games are mentioned and each of the alma maters and fight songs are listed as well. This is one of the best sports books to come around in quite some time. Purchase your copy of "A Tailgater's Guide To SEC Football." It has something for everyone and it will not disappoint. An engaging read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book On SEC Football By Far, August 11, 2002
By
This review is from: A Tailgater's Guide To SEC Football (Paperback)
I read this book over the summer and it was really a fun read.
Chris Warner has written quite possibly the best book I've ever come across on college football. A Tailgater's Guide is THE BEST among SEC Football titles that I've seen. The format is great. You can pick and choose from your favorite teams and find out about how all the schools got their mascots and nicknames and colors. There is a lot to like about this book...and the recipes are fabulous...what else can I say except buy the book. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tailgater's Guide to SEC Football, May 5, 2002

Being an LSU alumni and traveling to many of the SEC stadiums to see the Fighting Tigers on the road, I found this book informative, interesting and entertaining. My SEC friends who looked at the book agreed that it was right on target. Of course, each also thought their stadiums were the best in the SEC but we all know LSU's Tiger Stadium is the best in the league. This is a super book for anyone who follows SEC or college football. I strongly suggest having this book as a part of your football traveling materials. It is really a great publication and I can't wait until the authors update it in a few years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read for SEC football fans, November 19, 2001

Chris Warner's book is a fine cornucopia of information for the SEC football enthusiast. Each school's football tradition is highlighted with great detail from gridiron heroes, school facts, and recommended watering holes and restaurants. Directions to the stadiums are even given. I was also pleased with Chris' inclusion of the common fight songs for each school. For example, if you are wondering what those guys wearing plastic red hogs on their heads on any given Autumn Saturday in Little Rock or Fayetteville, Arkansas are ridiculously screaming, you would be in luck with Chris' book.

Being a tried and true LSU Bayou Bengal fanatic, I was most impressed with the twelve Cajun recipes Chris includes as "lagniappe" for perfect tailgating whether on the road or at home anticipating your favorite team's game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tailgaters Guide to SEC Football, July 30, 2001

If you live for Saturdays in the fall, and you enjoy SEC football like I do, this book is a must-have! It's set up well with a chapter on each school and all of their traditions, places to eat and drink, mascots, etc. Plus, there's a lot of history on each school like when they first started playing football, the construction of their stadiums, etc. I particularly liked the history of football in the South, but the ladies I entertain particlularly enjoy the Cajun recipes in the middle section! "Death Valley Crawfish Etoufee" is some hard-hitting vittles!........Hey Chris, you keep writing books this good and I will keep buying them!

If you are a sports history nutt like I am you will absolutely love this well-written book by Chris Warner. I received it as a Father's Day gift and could not put it down. I am an Auburn fan and have followed the SEC for over 25 years and this is the best book I have read covering the SEC. You can't go wrong with the Tailgater's Guide To SEC Football. I plan on using it on the road in the SEC and at the water cooler at work to settle disputes. A must-read!
