Musical wallpaper,

"Tailor Made" is a song that's tailor-made for its setting. I first heard it at the store; it's soft folk rock muzak. As Brian Eno would call it,it's "musical wallpaper" (or perhaps as David Byrne would put it,"songs about buildings and food"??)"Tailor Made" works as background music. Colbie Caillat strums on her guitar, singing about the day being "perfect" and yes,"tailor made." Relaxing ambient music. The instrumentation is okay. It's not overproduced. Caillat softly coos (and hiccups) the song's inane, instantly forgettable lyrics. It's not as bad as "Bubbly",but it's musical mediocrity. "Tailor Made" sounds like great music for a clothing advertisement. One can imagine it playing to a clothing store add, with the narrator informing viewers of the Labor Day sale with 50% off the price tag,and everything on clearance. |
