It is based on the principals historicals documents (from the 15th century to our days) and the most recent archeological investigations of the area. The book is very illustrated and also includes a vast bibliography of nearly 400 titles. The Introduction was written by Dr. Ricardo Alegria, former Director of the Puertorican Culture Institute and The Center of Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
