About the Author

Vicky St. John was born in Fresno, California, and grew up at the North Pole in Alaska. An avid vampire enthusiast, Vicky currently lives in Alaska with her husband, three children, and her everfaithful Dragon, where she is working on the sequel to Tainted.

More About the Author

I live in Wasilla Alaska, I spend the winter months reading, watching movies, and crafts with the kids. During the short 3 month summer, Im out and about doing all that I can before snow falls again.

I have a bearded dragon named Tubby Toe'Licker Malone, and I have recently started to take in stray reptiles that I later find forever homes for. I also show guinea pigs (cavies) with our local chapter in Anchorage. I am a slave to a bloodhound named Isebella (papered idiot) and a blind chow chow named Keeva. It seems that everything in my house has a flaw or five.

I have been writing short stories for my friends and family upon request until they finally urged me to try and get my first book "TAINTED" published. The story isn't finished. There are 4 books in my head with the first out in print and the second finished awaiting publishing. If the books are together in a set they will spell out TORN.

I do hope that you enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed writing it. Tainted is an author's unedited copy

I'm not a typical fan of the vampire genre or even most revenge fiction. What made me decide to give it a chance was the great hook: "How many times would you die you for kids?". It's a great question to frame the book around. Even though it's not my normal reading material, I found it to be a really intriguing book, and look forward to more from this new author. I think the direction this book is carving out for the series will leave a significant mark on vampire lore from here forward - a cure for vampirism? Could such a thing truly exist? And if it does, what would it be? I'm interested in seeing how the characters develop after this - but I have to be careful not to give too much away here, so I'll leave it at that. I do recommend this book for those looking for something different, and fun to read. I will be looking forward to the rest of the series.

This is the compelling story of how far you will go to protect your kids. How far is too far, and the better question.....can you come back? Vicky St. John writes a thought provoking first novel that will surely draw you in for the three future installments. The characters in this novel are very well rounded and guarded of their secrets, and their personalities weave together perfectly. Does Zoe have feelings for Gibbs? Is she siding more towards Tobias, her mentor into vampirism? This is a wonderful foray into the vampire culture that is not all gruesome and gross. As a reader who follows a number of genres, this is a very clean vampire book and accomplishes it's goal without all the gore and blood that so many writers mistakenly think adds to the story. Zoe is torn between life and death, the beginnings of relationships and the ends of them. The daily struggle of losing your children, and what it can cause you to do. Do any of us remain human when some tries to take our kids? Wouldn't you go to the ends of the earth for yours? I really enjoyed reading this unedited author's first edition, it shows how vulnerable that we become as a parent, and just what we are willing to endure to be with our children. I recommend this book and cannot wait to see what is offered in the second book in this series from Vicky St. John.
