5.0 out of 5 stars The best I've had
These are the best I've had in the U.S. If you crave good mochi, get these. The mochi is soft and fresh, the fillings are very tasty. I especially like the peanut and sesame flavors. As I write this, I note that this sampler is not available. I hope that changes soon: I need to replenish my stock.

By the way, my job is not a nine-to-five sit-in-the-office...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mochi by mail
This is the first time ordering online, usually when i get mochi i have to drive a few hours to Dallas. While its so much easier to get it delivered right at your door, its just not the same getting it from a fresh bakery.

This has some unique flavors i have to say. I liked all, except for the sesame. It tasted like coffee to me. I would have liked the mochi...

By the way, my job is not a nine-to-five sit-in-the-office sort. One or two of these will keep me on my feet and full of energy without sugar let-down or carb crash. Your mileage may vary, of course.

It was such a great price for so many mochi rice cakes! They all tasted great. My favorites were the red bean and the purple yam. They also stayed fresh for a very long time. In other words, they were just fantastic.

These are quite tasty treats. Having made mochi at home, eaten them at restaurants, I have an appreciation for what they "should" taste like. Perhaps an acquired taste is necessary to enjoy these but they do taste like mochi. They are not super sweet nor should they be. At my house we had to apportion them or the main mochi eaters would consume them at one sitting. The variety covers most tastes and are distinctive. I prefer the red bean but then I always have. If you are open to a mildly sweet treat that is more complex and interesting then I would recommend them.

I have never had anything like these before, and for the most part they are quite a fun little treat. I heard about them from a tv show and thought I would give them a try. I dont know what they normaly taste like but these ones were good. I really liked peanut and sesame, I really didnt like the red bean one, but everyone is diffrent. I would buy these again. They would make a great gift for anyone who likes to try new things and they come in a nice box. The seller shipped them the next day.

This has some unique flavors i have to say. I liked all, except for the sesame. It tasted like coffee to me. I would have liked the mochi to be a bit bigger, they are served in miniature cupcake cups. The ones i'm used to are about as big as my palm. Only other thing i should mention is they just dont have much filling.

Very good..just like the mochie I remember from my childhood in Japan. Comes packaged in a beautiful box and each mochie is individually wraped. Excellent product!!!

These sat around my house for a week. I managed to eat about 4 of them, but they just plain weren't good, so I finally threw the rest away today. I had no urge to eat another one, and I certainly won't be buying them again.

So what's wrong with them? The first, and biggest, problem is that the mochi is far too thick. (Mochi being the outer part which holds the filling inside.) Now, this would make sense if there were a large amount of filling in the middle, but there isn't. When I say thick... I mean it's at least half an inch thick on most sides. Second issue, the mochi itself has a strange taste, it doesn't taste like mochi should. It's an odd and very unpleasant taste. The texture is all wrong as well, it's almost like biting into a boiled egg. The third issue I have is that the peanut flavor overtook every other flavor in the box, making every flavor in the box smell and taste like peanut butter. This flavor needs to be packaged separately.

The fillings on the inside are so-so. The red bean paste tastes about right, the green tea flavor is good, and the purple yam is different, but still good. To me, the sesame flavor was absolutely horrid tasting, and the peanut flavor resembles really nasty peanut butter.

There are so many better premade mochi out there. If you want a decent pack of premade mochi, try the 8 packs here on Amazon. Just search for "Daifuku Mochi" and they will be the first 5-6 results.

----------

Moreover, upon looking at other recent reviews, it appears the product may have been out of date. Now I'm wishing I hadn't thrown them away, because I could have returned them.

The small size makes them easy to share. They arrived quickly and fresh. The only flavor that wasn't good was melon. Everything else was as good as can be expected for store bought

This is a big box! Well worth the money. I wasn't happy about the shipping price but it was a super fast deliver I only ordered it the other day! Right now I am on a diet and didn't realize the nutrition for just one so I have only tried one of them so far the peanut one and it was pretty good. Each one has;

Calories 113.0
Fat 3.3
saturated
fat 1.1
cholesterol 0.0
sodium 15.2
Carbohydrate 19.2
sugars 11.1
protein 1.7

Very much worth the money.
