Having both feet and meter on the tape measure is extremely useful. Why? Because so many times there is a need to make a precise measurement that falls somewhere in between the fractions of inches, like 3/32 and dividing it in your head quickly is a pain. It's faster when you can just switch over to the metric side and divide the mm and not have to deal with fractions. Also, sometimes construction hardware is on the metric system, such as 96mm cabinet handle pulls, and Blum hinges, etc. So I end up using this tape measure much more than my feet/inches-only tape measure which is now sitting in my toolbox collecting spider webs.

This is my new go-to tape measure in the shop. I build cabinets and furniture and find the Tajima to be accurate and very usable.

Dropped my 20 year old Stanley Contractor Grade tape at the lumber yard and it got swiped instantly. I tried some the tapes available at local hardware stores and I can see why. Did some reading of Amazon reviews and settled on this one. So far I'm very happy with it. It's small and lightweight for the 1" tape with, rolls and locks effortlessly, got a beefy hook that shifts smoothly for inside/outside measurement. The white color is super readable and easy on the eyes. I've never had a metric/standard combination tape before and I'm finding that is a bit of a compromise--better to have a dedicated one for each system, so you don't have to read across the wrong scaled side of the tape for critical measurements, but that was my fault. I wanted a tape I could grab and use on bicycle, woodworking, whatever. I could see owning several of these--seems like tapes get misplaced all the time anyway.
