I have been playing for over 45 years steady. I have owned and still own a high end Martin and various other custom shop Ren Ferguson built Gibsons.

This Takamine model stands almost shoulder to shoulder with any of them which is amazing because it was only a small fraction of what those custom high end guitars cost. I have owned it for a while now and put it through it's paces. Used various different string types and gauges on it. For me I found 11-52 works best but it comes with 12-53 guage.

It makes a really good everyday working instrument and song writing guitar.

The EG340DLX has an outstanding solid bearclaw spruce top that looks as beautiful as it sounds. As time goes by and many hours more of playing time get applied to it the top will surely "open up" and sound even sweeter.

It does have laminated back and sides BUT instead of a cheaper grade laminate that some manufacture's use, Takamine uses real flame Mahogany veneer sheets on the front and standard mahogany sheets on the back of the laminate construction with formica in between for strength integrity. So this makes it sound better than most laminate back and sides instruments and last longer as well and not be subject to humidity and tempeture changes as easily as solid wood back and sides.

The neck is a delight to play, with a 1 3/4" nut width, the action was dead on right out of the box. 4/64ths of an inch at the low E string @ the 12th fret and 3/64ths at the high E @ the 12th fret.

The woods used are top grade. The real flame maple binding around the front and back of the body, down the back center strip, around the headstock and on each side of the finger board is flawless and only found on very expensive guitars. The abalone double rosette ring around the sound hole is stunning as well as the abalone inlaid around the top soundboard edging.

It's tone is very nice instantly and will only get better with time. The tuners hold tune and work fine.

If there are any faults... it's with the ABS string nut and saddle. They look like some kind of synthetic bone but I'm sure they are plastic which does keep it from reaching it's total tone threshold. They work fine but if one was to have the nut and saddle replaced with bone like I did, this guitar would be pro level for any performance.
The CP100 under saddle pickup is competent but I have heard better. The TP4T preamp works just fine.

In conclusion... this is an excellent bargin for the intermediate player, pro player who doesn't want to risk his or her $10,000.00 vintage instrument on stage or tour and even a beginner that wants a real nice instrument to start on.

I'm keeping mine for sure and if nothing else, it's incredible to just look at because it is quite possibly the best looking acoustic guitar I have ever seen.

the order was late so I called Amazon and they refunded my money, the guitar came in 6 days later we opened it and fell in love with it the sound is great it holds in tune, it came with every thing it said including an allen wrench which we haven't figure out what it is for. On the negative side the gig bag well it is just an extra thick garbage bag with a handle, but on Amazon and get you a nice padded one with pockets and shoulder straps for under $13.00 and you will be happy.Happy shopping!

I had to come back and say how much I looove my guitar. I see many people's complaints are actually about GO-DPS. My guitar was purchased directly through their site which is linked to Amazon in a way but I had absolutely no problems. My guitar came in about a week's time also. I have owned this guitar since November 14, 2011. My dad is a guitarist and when he saw and played it he was very impressed. All of the other products are included with the guitar but I decided to later purchase my own guitar case for better quality. The case it comes with does look like a trash bag as someone has mentioned but it's not super duper flimsy (but it is flimsy lol). This is quite an impressive deal if you ask me!

Anywho, please feel free to check out my video with my guitar on YouTube search createdandchosen

I've seen and played quite a few more expensive guitars... Martin, Taylor, Collings etc... and this guitar is a fine instrument at any price. It happens to be less expensive than many others, which makes it a real bargain. I bought mine from a dealer, so I handled it and played it before purchasing. I would never order a guitar through the mail, and it seems that most of the complaints are regarding service or the cheap gig bag that some dealers essentially throw in for free. Hey, buy whatever case you want. You're essentially getting a great guitar and something to keep the dust off it. If you want a great case, go buy one. Jeez!

I purchased this guitar in hopes that I would be able to teach myself to play. I tried using online tutorials, but was not successful in actually teaching myself much more than a few chords. The limited use I did have with this guitar proved more than adequate for a beginner and I would definitely recommend it for someone interested in learning, but not wanting a huge investment.

This was a great guitar for the price i paid. Besides the fact the strings looked warn and the new ones it came with were already oxidizing still in the sealed package. So, yeah I had to go out and buy new strings, but over the quality and performance was great.

This product arrived previously open and broken. The parts are of low quality and it's not really worth owning. The "gig bag" was ridiculously cheap. It looks like maybe it was sown inside out. A wire to the amp was broken so it would turn on, but you'd plug it into an amp and--nothing, woudn't work.
