I bought this guitar for my wife last Christmas. It's priced a little higher than the low-end guitars, but the sound and feel of it really justify the price.
I myself play the guitar and have some experience with the feel and sound of a guitar. This particular one is really smooth, easy on the fingers, and the sound is excellent. As far as tuning the guitar, it definitely tunes very well and very easily. I highly recommend this guitar - the price may be a little steep, but if you see it on sale anywhere, go for it.

The fully acoustic (not acoustic electric) members of Takamine G-series are, for the most part a medicore group of guitars, but the GS330S stands out. The wood is of a very high quality, the finish is very nice too, allowing you to run your hands accross it and actually feel the texture of the wood. The sound is superb, however it has very little bass, but thats not very important anyway. For vocals, its quite good, because of the lack of bass it complements someones voice very well. My only complaint would be that it does not come with a pickguard, which is no problem, they sell for around five bucks anywhere. Also the top wood is particularly soft, and dents pretty easly, but if your carefull and get a good case (I bought a better one than what they threw in for free) then thats no problem. So, if your looking for a straight acoustic guitar, under five hundred, I would stronly recomend the takamine GS330S.

This is a great intermediate guitar built for gentle music...it has a very mellow voice, the overtones are clear, mid-range, and it is greatly softened by the minimally treated spruce body with a very slight curvature to the back. I bought mine 3 years ago retail ($329 + 9%) at a Guitar Center in Louisiana.
I recommend this guitar for jazz players and soft-voiced singers.

I've been playing my beginniner acoustic guitar for about 3 years now, and I felt like it was time to buy a 'one upper' guitar. I love playing blues and country, as well as classic rock.
I've been searching for 'the right' guitar for the past year. My budget was originally $150 however once I played this one, it went up. As soon as I picked up this guitar, I noticed it's physical qualities right away: a light, crispy, smooth, simple, good looking guitar. When I started playing some country songs, I noticed that it's sound was unique relative to all the other guitar's that I've been trying. The wood vibrates uniquely, because it is made of 'lighter' wood...(solid cedar top, nato back and sides). I LOVE this guitar and I highly reccomend it. I also read in a few corners on the internet that Cedar Wood ages well and sounds great after 10 years. The tuners are chrome, and there is a simple inlay around the edge of the face, which gives a clean simple look. Possible downers: For some people who like to rough the guitar around a bit, or play hard and scratch the top...the soft cedar wood scratches VERY easily. You can make a dent in it with your fingernail with a little pressure. It does NOT have a pickguard (however you can find these for about 5-10$)

Great guitar,

I bought this guitar 6-7 years ago after looking for about 6 months. It's a great guitar that totally blew away other guitars in its price range. I've played with other people who have much more expensive Martins or Taylors and this guitar holds its own. Amazing sound quality for the price, and it looks great too.

This is my second guitar, the first was a Fender DG-60 and it was terrible to play so I called Guitar Center where I got it from and they said come on over and return the Fender and see what else I would like...no problem...so I go to GC and they show me this Takamine GS330S....WOW... it's easy to play and the sound is just uncomparable compared to ALL higher end models....solid cedar top makes this baby sing......a definite 10....go get this baby right now!!!!!!!!!

Value and Sound without Disappointment,
This review is from: Takamine G Series GS330S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Natural (Electronics)
My family bought me a Takamine GS330S as a Christmas gift. I already own several guitars and have been playing for over 40 years. They decided that I needed an "every day player" -- one that if I left it out and the grandchildren "played" it, no one would have a panic attack (apparently I'm not good at putting my guitars away when the little guys are around). What a surprise. I now have an every-day player to forget to put away that sounds great and was a great value too.
The sound projects with the loudness and clarity of a much more expensive guitar. The balance is very good. The feel of the neck, action, intonation and overall playability of the soundboard suits my combo picking and strumming style very nicely. I own guitars that were twice the street price that are not built with any better quality, sound or feel. I highly recommend this instrument for students looking to learn on a quality instrument and for existing players that want a guitar as an every-day player that won't disappoint.

I bought this guitar used because I played almost every guitar at the store and this one had as good a tone as much more expensive instruments. I really love the way it sounds and plays.

Good for beginners, but that's about it.,

I'll be completely honest, this is a good guitar to have around when you have no other and it's certainly better than the Hondo I started out on some fifteen or so years ago. But in the end, this guitar really is only suitable for beginners or intermediates that have no interest in advancing. I was amazing by how many good reviews this guitar has. The action is poor (even after my adjustments), the acoustic sound it has is dull. It's promoted by sellers as being one of the higher end "cedar" guitars. Which I find funny, because when I first started playing it, I looked at it and laughed... "what a cheap guitar, it's made of cedar!" I assume that's the reason it has such a dull sound (or soft sound as their promoters would write).
For a solid, vibrant and amazing acoustic sound, you'll probably to spend between 350 and 1000 (us). This guitar goes for 300 [us], and I can tell you, it's over priced. Severely. |
