Product Description

Extrordinary acoustic performance in a stage and studio ready acoustic/electric instrument. The Supernatural TAN16C dreadnought is handcrafted in our pro series facility that has been building precision quality instruments over five decades. The underlying theme of the Supernatural series is understated elegance. Gloss finish provides durability and lasting beauty. The look is accented by a genuine abalone rosette and fretboard dot inlays. Gold tuning machines with amber pearl buttons further add to the premium look of the instrument. All Supernatural series tonewoods are hand-selected, premium grade timbres. A solid sitka spruce top, supported by scalloped X bracing, is voiced for power, deep lows, sweet mids and a cutting high end. An excellent choice whether you play solo or in a full band environment ... this guitar does it all. A solid Indian Rosewood back aids in projection. A pinless bridge makes string changing a breeze. Includes Takamine’s palathetic pickup®, known in the industry as one of the most accurate and natural sounding acoustic/electric pickups. The electronic performance package is beyond state of the art with the Cool Tube Preamp – the first and only tube preamp in an acoustic guitar.

I've been playing over 30 years off and on, but now it's game on!

So the Takamine tan16C has a beautiful sound unplugged, and when plugged in, ah, that's when you hear it's real beauty.

The woods give you a bright tone but sweet at the same time, the balance between bass and treble is wonderful.

I've had this guitar for less than a week, and I'm totally impressed. I bought it unseen, since I couldn't find one to play in the local music stores. They all seem to carry Takamine entry level guitars, and not the pro series at all. So it was a gamble to buy it online, but I went for it and I'm glad I did. Totally satisfied.

I've been playing for over 40 years - I've owned a couple of Martins (D-18 and DC-16rgte) and the Tan 16C can stand with either of those guitars unplugged.

So the Takamine tan16C has a beautiful sound unplugged, and when plugged in, ah, that's when you hear it's real beauty.

The cool tube preamp - I have the ctp-2 cool tube - it is the bomb! Gorgeous, lush, even, and just a round and even and balanced sound that I've never heard before.

It's kind of like falling in love all over again.

So my experience is a total success on all levels, and I heartily recommend this guitar for anyone looking for a dreadnought-sized axe that sounds great unplugged, and better than great plugged in.

And just a note of caution for buyers: if you buy this guitar, make sure it has the ctp-2 preamp and not the ctp-1. The ctp-1 is the first generation of the cool tube preamp, and the ctp-2 is the upgraded improved version. I noticed a lot of the vendors selling this guitar new with the ctp-1.

my two centavos.

Beautifully constructed and finished, amazing sound either acoustic or plugged.

This guitar is wonderful, just 2 weeks playing and it works very well. The woods give you a bright tone but sweet at the same time, the balance between bass and treble is wonderful. Very comfortable to play either with your fingers or with a pick.

When you play it acoustic it sounds incredible but when you plugged it is when you find its real value, the preamp itself sounds good but when you include the on board tube on the chain the sound is huge, sweetly compressed as only tubes can. No more boomy bass on a guitar, you can understand every detail. I have even played on some concerts with it and everyone at my band is amazed. Nice choice. I made an extensive research and found this like the one I was searching for... now that I own it, I can proudly say that I was right.

Verified Purchase
Takamine has been at it for a long and it shows. This is an excellent solid-wood guitar with first-rate electronics. Beats almost everything in this price range; certainly much more guitar for the money than the Martins and Taylors in this price range. The CoolTube sounds great live and records well too. Would highly recommend.
