4.0 out of 5 stars I disagree, respectfully
This song in itself catches the simple monotany of experiencing yet another heartbreak. I felt that her delivery along with the music catches the "it's over" feel but adds the twist needed to complete the overall objective of the song... "You got me. No denying that. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I should've known."

That tone is perfect...

2.0 out of 5 stars Bowing Out
Sadly, while Rihanna has shown herself as being an it girl, she hasn't really shown that she has the dominance of making good songs all her own. That has shown from the lyrics from her fifth single from A Girl Gone Bad, Take A Bow. The lyrics don't have the strength and appeal as was the case with the feeling of her collaboration with Ne-Yo on Hate That I Love You. The...

That tone is perfect and keeps it from becoming 'just another heartbreak' song. Simple lines like, "You look so dumb right now.." or "you're so ugly when you cry" may be simple and ineffective to some. But everyone is able to think back on a teary apology they've received in their life and connect with that image if even for a moment.

She does a phenominal job of singing about going through the motions. In the end through the love, the hurt, and the apology Rihanna shows that her current indifference if through 20/20 hindsight but during 'the show' she was really lost in the story.

A job well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take A Bow, April 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Take a Bow (Audio CD)
I love the prices I get shopping on Amazon. The different companies hooked up with Amazon are trustworthy and dependable. This cd was a needle in the haystack and it was not being manufactured any more. The price was extremely fair and delivery was prompt.Rihanna's music speaks for itself. That star was blessed by God with not only a voice but looks and body.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rihanna is beautiful and so is her music., December 23, 2008
This review is from: Take a Bow (Audio CD)
People who judge Rihanna don't respect the fact that this is the real Rihanna. She has been stuck in a bubble for so long trying to be what everyone else wants her to be. And now that she is finally coming out and being herself you decide to attack her? You're just jealous and its pretty sad. I love her music and I love that she isn't fake like most artist.....to name one....Beyonce.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Remixes!, September 26, 2008
This review is from: Take A Bow (MP3 Download)
The best remix on here is the 8:34 (minute) version by Seamus Haji and Paul Emanuel Club mix. It has a great smooth progressive house sound and compliments this song very much. Much better than the original (at least if you're out at the clubs!)

The lyrics just feel that they just say things that don't appeal to men, like saying they're ugly when you cry just doesn't catch on with the somberness of the melody of the song. I just honestly have to say that she doesn't have the appeal as Leona Lewis or Alicia Keys does with good songs. She needs to get a song recognized from the heart, and not image. I really prefer Teenage Love Affair from Alicia Keys instead.
