This review is from: Take Action 4 (Audio CD)
This compilation has a healthy dose of genre variety which includes post-hardcore, hardcore punk, pop punk, punk, metalcore, alternative, and indie bands. Underoath, Taking Back Sunday, Hawthorne Heights, and Hidden in Plain View are the highlights of this CD by including their best and most popular songs. All of the other songs for the most part are no name bands with decent or awful songs, or semi famous bands that included less than memorable songs.
Other popular bands with good songs worth mentioning: NOFX - Concerns of a GOP Neo-Phyte (written exclusively for this compilation) Mae - Embers and Envelopes A Wilhelm Scream - Famous Friends and Fashion Drunks Boys Night Out - I Got Punched in the Nose for Sticking My Face in Other People's Business Rufio - Don't Hate Me There were some hidden gems! Roses are Red - White and Gold Brandtson - Little Birds and Sparrows (also exclusive to this compilation) Terror - Keep Your Mouth Shut New Mexican Disaster Squad - You're Incorrect Ever We Fall - Three Wires In The Briggs - All on Me Kaddisfly - Midnight in Shanghai All in all, it's worth a try because you get 41 songs for pretty cheap, some of which can only be found on Take Action Vol. 4. There are more throw away songs than good songs, and only a handful of epic songs (I only liked 16 of the songs). Music is subjective so who knows, you might enjoy this compilation more than I did. |
